Lycophytes are the earliest diverging extant lineage of vascular plants, sister to all other vascular plants. Given that most species are adapted to ever-wet environments, it has been hypothesized that lycophytes, and by extension the common ancestor of all vascular plants, have few adaptations to drought. We investigated the responses to drought of key fitness-related traits such as stomatal regulation, shoot hydraulic conductance (K ) and stem xylem embolism resistance in Selaginella haematodes and S.

Objective: The minimally invasive procedures piezosurgical corticocision and osteoperforation have been advocated as methods to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement and to shorten treatment time, but without large-scale trauma of the periosteum and the bone. The aim of this study was to evaluate if there is evidence supporting these claims based on a systematic review of the literature.

Materials And Methods: A search of PubMed and Google Scholar with the combined search terms "piezo*" and "tooth movement" was performed until May 2016.

Objectives: The goal of this work was to compare the demineralization of enamel associated with two different self-etching primers and traditional acid etching.

Materials And Methods: A total of 15 volunteers (23-32 years, 8 male and 7 female) were provided with a removable archwire/resin appliance to be worn 20 h/day for 28 days. The device was attached to the mandibular posterior teeth and included samples of human enamel (from extracted third molars) located in both posterior vestibules.

Postoperative infections after trochanteric and intracapsular hip fractures are rare. Critical clinical observation of the wound during the early postoperative period and the evaluation by sonography as well as the determination of the C-reactive protein are important factors in the diagnosis of early haematoma and wound infections. If revision surgery of suspected infections is immediately performed, good long-term results are to be expected.
