Background: Most patients with congenital uterus and vaginal aplasia (i.e., Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser [MRKH] syndrome) have rudimentary pelvic uterine structures that contain smooth muscle.

We also compared participants' HRQoL with the age-matched general female population and analysed factors associated with HRQoL.
Study Design: This is a population-based study of a cohort of women born in 1948 and in 1950 (n = 143) which is also part of the Women's Gynaecological Health study in Lieto, Finland.
Background: Cofactors of high-risk (HR) human papillomavirus (HPV) in the progression of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) are incompletely characterized. In this study these cofactors were investigated in a longitudinal setting.
Methods: A cohort of 329 women (mean age 25.
Approximately 150 cervical cancer cases are diagnosed in Finland annually. Both incidence and mortality have decreased by 80% since organised screening began. Recently, screening based on primary HPV-testing with Pap-smear triage has been shown to be more sensitive and more specific among women over 35 years old in randomised studies and thus may be implemented in routine.

Thus, we have investigated radiation-induced effects on telomerase in six gynecological cancer cell lines, with different intrinsic radiosensitivity and capacity for sublethal damage repair (SLDR).
Materials And Methods: Three endometrial adenocarcinoma (UM-EC-1, UT-EC-2B and UT-EC-3) and three vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (A431, UM-SCV-2 and UM-SCV-7) cell lines were irradiated with doses of 5, 10 and 25 Gy and the effects on telomerase were evaluated at 0.
Objective And Methods: Ten vulvar squamous cell carcinoma cell lines established at the University of Michigan (UM-SCV-1A, -1B, -2, -3, -4, -6, -7) and at the University of Turku (UT-SCV-1, -2, -3) were characterized by G-banding karyotyping, comparative genomic hybridization (CGH), and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) flow cytometry.
Results: All cell lines had hyperdiploid DNA content as measured by flow cytometry. The DNA index (DI) remained relatively stable through different passages in 9 of 10 cases.
Individualization of radiation doses is presumed to result in better radiotherapy outcome. Success rate in measuring radiosensitivity is probably the most limiting factor for present radiosensitivity assays to be introduced into clinical routine. To find a simpler predictive parameter, we compared the radiosensitivity of dermal fibroblasts and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cell lines established from the same individuals.

Chemosensitivity was tested using the 96-well plate clonogenic assay. Paclitaxel concentrations used varied between 0.

Twenty-four women were evaluated before docetaxel treatment and after 3-4 courses of docetaxel 100 mg/m(2). The heart rate, cardiac extrasystoles and heart rate variability (HRV) in both the time and frequency domain were assessed from 24-h ECG recordings.

We wanted to test the efficacy of this combination for vulvar carcinoma, which currently has a poor outcome in advanced stages. The radiation sensitivity, sublethal damage repair (SLDR) capacity and effect of paclitaxel during fractionated radiation were assessed in our study on 7 vulvar inherently radioresistant squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cell lines.
