Invasive aspergillosis is a serious and lethal infection among immunocompromised patients, with reported mortality rates as high as 74-92%. Definitive diagnostic procedures (tissue biopsy for histopathology and culture) are often precluded by severe cytopenias and coagulation abnormalities.
