The main advantage of minimally invasive thyroidectomy is a good cosmetic effect. Minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy (MIVAT) is performed without gas insufflation in contrast to endoscopic thyroidectomy. In general, MIVAT is carried out through an incision in the middle part of the neck, not covered with clothes.
