Background: When applying lung-protective ventilation, fluid responsiveness cannot be predicted by pulse pressure variation (PPV) or stroke volume variation (SVV). Functional hemodynamic testing may help address this limitation. This study examined whether changes in dynamic indices such as PPV and SVV, induced by tidal volume challenge (TVC), can reliably predict fluid responsiveness in patients undergoing renal transplantation who receive lung-protective ventilation.

We aimed to compare the effectiveness of both modalities in terms of duration and quality of postoperative analgesia along with postoperative fentanyl consumption.
Methods: We conducted a randomised study and analysed 60 patients posted for elective live-related kidney transplantation surgery.
Objectives: Postoperative pain after a major surgery continues to be a challenge. Regional anesthetic techniques make up a substantial part of interventions to decrease postoperative pain and the use of opioids. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of intrathecal morphine in patients undergoing kidney transplant, in terms of both duration and quality of postoperative analgesia.

Recent years have seen substantial progress in preoperative patient optimization protocols, anesthesia monitoring, coagulation management, and fluid management, among other areas. These improvements have led to excellent perioperative outcomes for all surgical patients, including those undergoing liver transplantation.

Thromboelastography (TEG), is a point of care coagulation monitor to assess dynamic progress of clot formation. We report a case of 26 years old female patient with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) who underwent living donor kidney transplantation at our institute.

Bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) can perhaps serve this need, since they possess incredible properties, including high biocompatibility by virtue of their amorphous structure and absence of dislocations. However, the fabrication of BMGs is challenging, since, to achieve an amorphous structure, fast cooling is a pre-requisite which is very difficult to achieve for casting due to the fact that fast cooling rate and adequate rate of filling of the mold possess a trade-off relationship.

Conventionally, central venous pressure (CVP) has been used to guide perioperative fluid administration but with high incidence of poor graft outcome. There is a requirement of reliable parameter to guide the fluid therapy in these patients so as to minimize the perioperative complications and improve the outcome.

Design: Retrospective observational case series METHODS: Institutional pathology records between 2014 and 2020 were searched for all cases of conjunctival actinic granuloma. Information collected included age, sex, ocular and medical history, clinical findings, laboratory workup, treatment, follow-up, pathologic diagnosis, and histopathologic inflammation pattern.
Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the role of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) in patients presenting with acute dyspnea admitted in emergency services.
Materials And Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted on 100 patients presenting to the emergency of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital and Hero DMC Heart Institute with acute dyspnea of <48 h duration, in which BNP levels were done on arrival to emergency.
Results: BNP levels were significantly higher in patients having left ventricular dysfunction, both systolic and diastolic.
Background And Objectives: Dilated cardiomyopathy is a state of progressive enlargement of cardiac chambers mainly left ventricle which leads to decreased cardiac output and ultimately cardiac failure. Although it has multifactorial etiology, it is quite common in patients with end stage renal disease who require renal transplant surgery for their cure. Both conditions go side by side and anesthetic management of such cases poses real challenge to anesthesiologist.

Cardiovascular events are the commonest factors contributing to perioperative morbidity and mortality in this population. These patients have a high incidence (up to 60%) of pulmonary hypertension (PH) and that may affect the perioperative outcome.

Early clinical assessment and diagnostic interventions is of prime importance to establish the etiology and to start appropriate management. Close follow-up is warranted in early postoperative period in cases when patient complain paresthesia or pain during needle insertion or drug injection.

Incentive spirometry (IS) creates forceful inspiration, while stretching pulmonary receptors. We postulated that spirometry just before the fentanyl (F) bolus would decrease the incidence and severity of FIC.

There is limited and inconsistent literature on the association among anaemia, serum magnesium levels and sputum conversion during tuberculosis treatment.

Hence, to ensure better control of the disease, it is imperative that all patients dispose their sputum safely. Outcomes of this study would highlight the gaps need to be bridged in order to curtail transmission of TB.

Sudden hypotension, arrhythmias, and cardiovascular collapse are threatening complications following injection of induction agent in hemodynamically unstable patients. It is desirable to use a safe agent with fewer adverse effects for this purpose.

Introduction: Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) requires rapid diagnosis for the initiation of antibiotics. Its diagnosis is usually based on manual examination of ascitic fluid (AF) having long reporting time. AF infection is diagnosed when the fluid polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMNL) concentration ≥250 cells/mm(3).

Invasive monitoring is the need of the hour in today's scenario in intensive care units and perioperatively in hemodynamically unstable patients. Despite careful placement using proper landmarks and USG guided methods central venous canuulation (CVC) is associated sometimes with unforeseen complications. We report a rare complication of coiling of CVC in the left subclavian vein.
