Foreign body aspiration is a frequent cause of hospitalization in pediatric ENT units. Pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema are possible complications of tracheobronchoscopy with foreign body removal, but it is rare, that the foreign body causes the complications itself. The authors present a very rare case of a soft bronchial foreign body aspiration in a child with such complications.

Paranasal sinusitis is a condition that is treated by a General Practitioner and in case it fails it requires specialistic therapy. In most cases the inflammation is connected with nasal mucosa infection. However, in older children and adolescents sinusitis caused by spreading of tooth and gingiva inflammatory process can be an essential therapeutic and diagnostic problem.

The coexistence of upper airways disease with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is not well documented. The aim of this research was to assess sino-nasal inflammation in COPD by various tools, and look for the impact on quality of life, relation to smoking, disease severity and systemic inflammation. Current and ex-smokers with COPD (n = 42) and healthy never-smokers (n = 21) were included in this study.
