Introduction And Importance: Diverticula of the vermiform appendix are rare entities. Although the pathogenesis and natural course of appendiceal diverticulitis (AD) are different from acute appendicitis, AD is treated like acute appendicitis because of similar clinical manifestations and low incidence.
Case Presentation: We describe cases of two male patients of different ages who respectively underwent elective laparoscopic appendectomy and an emergent laparoscopic appendectomy in a multi-speciality hospital in Kerala, India.
Introduction: The Covid pandemic and social distancing has adversely impacted the conventional apprenticeship method of postgraduate training in laparoscopic surgery. Social media may be a useful adjunct for laparoscopic training, but its utility in developing countries like India has not been studied carefully. Liver transplantation (LT) began in Taiwan in 1984, and living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) in 1994. This study reviews survival outcomes in such patients treated at a tertiary level hospital in Taiwan, and compares survival advantage of surgical resection over embolization therapy using a statistically valid propensity scores matching model.
Methods: 192 patients newly diagnosed with HCC ≥ 10 cm between 2005 and 2010, who had HR (n = 104) and transarterial embolization (TAE) (n = 88), were retrospectively studied.
