- The study analyzed outcomes of patients over 60 with aortic stenosis who underwent percutaneous aortic balloon valvotomy (PABV), comparing those who also had percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to those who had PABV alone.
- It found that the use of PABV combined with PCI significantly increased from 5.1% in 1998-1999 to 16.6% in 2009-2010, but had similar in-hospital mortality and complication rates as PABV alone.
- Although the combined procedure had similar length of stay, it resulted in a higher hospitalization cost, indicating that patients receiving both interventions incurred more expenses without additional mortality or complication benefits.
Preexisting pulmonary hypertension (PH) is associated with poor outcomes after surgical mitral valve repair for functional mitral regurgitation (FMR). However its clinical impact on MitraClip therapy remains unknown. The aim of this study was therefore to evaluate the impact of preexisting PH on MitraClip therapy for patients with FMR.

In this case, we documented optimal visualization of four stent layers that were seen during percutaneous coronary intervention for recurrent in-stent restenosis. OCT was clearly able to penetrate all of the neointimal tissue layers extending through to the last stent, which was near the adventitia.
