Diabetic Cheiroarthropathy in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and Coeliac Disease.

Diabetes mellitus can be associated with a variety of musculoskeletal disorders. Diabetic cheiroarthropathy or diabetic hand syndrome is one of the complications encountered in long-standing uncontrolled diabetes. It is characterized by limited movement of the joints of the hands along with thickening of the skin on the palmar and dorsal surfaces.

Umbilical cord milking for neonates who are depressed at birth: a randomized trial of feasibility.

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of umbilical cord milking (UCM) in neonates who are depressed at birth.

Study Design: This is a quasi-randomized, non-blinded, controlled trial on infants (≥35 weeks) who were depressed at birth. UCM (cord milked three times) was performed during the even months and the neonates born during the odd months were in the control group.

Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) training: What happens to knowledge and skills over time?

Background: The first minutes after birth are critical to reducing neonatal mortality. Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) is a simulation-based neonatal resuscitation program for low resource settings. We studied the impact of initial HBB training followed by refresher training on the knowledge and skills of the birth attendants in facilities.

Role of platelet-rich-fibrin in enhancing palatal wound healing after free graft.

Platelet-rich fibrin has long been used as a wound healing therapy in skin wounds and recently evidence has suggested its usage in oral cavity for different treatment procedures. This article proposes an overview of use of platelet-rich fibrin in management of complicated oral wounds. Excessive hemorrhage of the donor area, necrosis of epithelium, and morbidity associated with donor site have been described as the possible complications after harvesting subepithelial connective tissue graft, but little has been mentioned about their management.

Meningococcal disease--outbreak in Delhi.

Meningococcal disease occurs both endemically and epidemically across the world. In India also meningococcal disease occurs sporadically with epidemics occurring at regular intervals. Epidemics of meningococcal disease have occurred in Delhi in the year 1935, then in the year 1966 which lasted for a year and again in 1985-86.

A rat model of radiofrequency ablation of trigeminal innervation via a ventral approach with stereotaxic surgery.

Neurotrophic keratopathy (NK), a consequence of sensory denervation of the cornea, must be better understood in order to develop new approaches to therapy. The purpose of this study was to create a rat model for neurotrophic keratopathy by denervating the trigeminal nerve through a ventral approach with stereotaxic surgery. Stereotaxic coordinates were measured in 46 male Sprague Dawley rat cadavers for localization of V1.

Stroke in children.

Stroke is a thrombohemorrhagic disorder of the central nervous system, with a fairly good outcome in pediatric age group except for the infancy period. In children ischemic type is more common than hemorrhagic type. Though it is difficult to distinguish between thrombotic and embolic phenomenon but it is largely due to cardiovascular lesions, at times it may be the first symptom to appear.
