Aims: Whether different diabetic kidney disease (DKD) phenotypes recognise differences in morphological and vascular properties of the kidney is still unexplored. We evaluated the potential role of kidney ultrasonography in differentiating DKD phenotypes in subjects with type 2 diabetes.
Materials And Methods: This is a cross-sectional, single-centre study.
Background: Carotid artery disease is highly prevalent and a main cause of ischemic stroke and vascular dementia. There is a paucity of information on predictors of serious vascular events. Besides percentage diameter stenosis, international guidelines also recommend the evaluation of qualitative characteristics of carotid artery disease as a guide to treatment, but with no agreement on which qualitative features to assess.

In the diabetic foot syndrome (DFS), US found specific indications mainly in the screening, quantification, and follow-up of the vascular component of the pathology, but also in the study of the deformities and structural modifications induced by neuropathy and in the diagnosis and surgical management of infections, especially those that induce anatomical changes, like abscesses and fasciitis. This review will summarize all these application of US, giving special attention to the vascular aspects, and on the predominant role that US gained in recent times to guide the indication to revascularization, on the new standardized approach to the study of the arterial tree of the limb and the foot, the so-called duplex ultrasound arterial mapping, which significantly increased the utilization of US to plan the revascularizations in this complex pathology.

The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of the procedure in a randomized wait list control study.
Methods: 66 adults with neurologist-confirmed diagnosis of MS and sonographic diagnosis of CCSVI were allocated into vPTA-yes group (n = 31) or vPTA-not group (n = 35, control group).
Median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) is a rare condition in which the median arcuate ligament (MAL) causes compression of the coeliac trunk. The chronic compression leads to coeliac trunk luminal narrowing and reduced blood supply to the abdominal splanchnic organs with possible local complications such as pseudo-aneurysms and spontaneous bleeding. Its incidence is probably underestimated due to the poor availability of color Doppler ultrasonography (CD-US), especially in an Emergency Department (ED) setting.

Therefore, despite significant prognostic implications, the high diagnostic accuracy in plaque definition, and the relative ease of use, 3D echo in vascular field is a niche technique. The purpose of this review is mainly clinical and intends to demonstrate the potential strength of a 3D approach, including technical aspects, in order to present to clinicians and imagers the appealing aspects of a noninvasive and radiation-free methodology with relevant diagnostic and prognostic correlates in the assessment of carotid atherosclerosis.

We report the case of an asymptomatic woman in whom progressive thrombosis of the KD extending to the prevertebral tract of an aberrant right subclavian artery was detected at multidetector computed tomography imaging for lung cancer staging performed before and after the beginning of chemotherapy. Reversed blood flow in the ipsilateral vertebral artery due to subclavian steal phenomenon was also observed by color Doppler ultrasound examination.

Purpose: To retrospectively evaluate the role of clinical and procedural factors in predicting in-stent restenosis in patients with renovascular disease treated by renal artery stenting.
Methods: From 1995 to 2002, 147 patients underwent renal artery stenting for the treatment of significant ostial atherosclerotic stenosis. Patients underwent strict clinical and color-coded duplex ultrasound follow-up.
Objective: The objective of this study was to differentiate type II lumbar endoleaks on the basis of dynamic features identified by contrast-enhanced ultrasound scanning (CUS) and to evaluate the role of this differentiation in detecting abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) enlargement > or =1 mL/mo.
Methods: Eighteen male patients (mean age, 71.8 years) with type II lumbar endoleak suspected at CUS underwent computed tomography angiography (CTA) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA).
