High prevalence of soil-transmitted helminths among primary students in Ha Giang, Vietnam: A descriptive cross-sectional study.

Despite improvements in environmental sanitation and healthcare, the infection rate of soil-transmitted helminths (STHs) remains high in low socioeconomic regions of developing countries including Vietnam. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and intensity of STH infections among primary school children in Meo Vac, Ha Giang: a poor mountainous province in Vietnam. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted from October to November 2023, involving 400 participants.

Histone Deacetylases (HDACs) are enzymes that regulate gene expression by removing acetyl groups from histones. They are involved in various diseases, including neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, inflammatory, and metabolic disorders, as well as fibrosis in the liver, lungs, and kidneys. Successfully identifying potent HDAC inhibitors may offer a promising approach to treating these diseases.

from Vietnam is described and illustrated. It is found in southern Vietnam, where it occurs at an elevation of 1400-1500 m in Voi Mountain, Duc Trong District, Lam Dong Province. This new species is distinguished from a similar species, , by culm nodes with a thick swollen patella, culm leaf blades erect, auricles conspicuous, margins bearing long hairs, palea dorsal view showing rachilla extension and rudimentary floret at the apex and lodicules purple gradually towards the top.

Rifampicin resistant in Vietnam, 2020-2022.

Objective: We conducted a descriptive analysis of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in Vietnam's two largest cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.

Methods: All patients with rifampicin resistant tuberculosis were recruited from Hanoi and surrounding provinces between 2020 and 2022. Additional patients were recruited from Ho Chi Minh city over the same time period.

Spatial Analysis of Drug-Susceptible and Multidrug-Resistant Cases of Tuberculosis, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 2020-2023.

We characterized the spatial distribution of drug-susceptible (DS) and multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB) cases in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, a major metropolis in southeastern Asia, and explored demographic and socioeconomic factors associated with local TB burden. Hot spots of DS and MDR TB incidence were observed in the central parts of Ho Chi Minh City, and substantial heterogeneity was observed across wards. Positive spatial autocorrelation was observed for both DS TB and MDR TB.

Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotics, is one of the frequently used drugs in the children and elder. Our goal was to identify clinician users' perspectives on facilitators (pros) and barriers (cons) to using 1 digital texting innovation to promote family centered care during patients' hospitalizations. This qualitative study was conducted at a tertiary care center in Houston, consisting of 7 hospitals (1 academic hospital and 6 community hospitals), involving analyzation of 3 focus groups of 18 physicians, 5 advanced practice providers, and 10 nurse directors and managers, as well as a content analysis of 156 real-time alerts signaling family dissatisfaction on the nursing unit/floor.

Anomalous Origin of the Right Pulmonary Artery From the Aorta and Congenital Tracheal Stenosis: Staged Repair in a Neonate.

Anomalous origin of the right pulmonary artery from the ascending aorta (AORPA), sometimes referred to as hemitruncus, is a rare malformation. We report a unique case of AORPA associated with Ebstein's anomaly and with congenital tracheal stenosis due to complete tracheal rings. The AORPA and tracheal stenosis were both successfully corrected in the neonatal period.

Diverse Bacteriophages Infecting the Bacterial Striped Catfish Pathogen .

Bacteriophages infecting have been less investigated, although the host bacterium is one of the most important fish pathogens causing enteric septicemia of catfish (ESC). We present here two distinctly novel bacteriophages vB_EiM_PVN06 and vB_EiA_PVN09 infecting E1, with their geographical origins from the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. Bacteriophage vB_EiM_PVN06 native to a mud sample reveals complete differences of biological properties with the phage vB_EiA_PVN09 originated from a viscus of a healthy catfish () cultured in the same area.

Assessment of Residual Cancer Burden and Event-Free Survival in Neoadjuvant Treatment for High-risk Breast Cancer: An Analysis of Data From the I-SPY2 Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: Residual cancer burden (RCB) distributions may improve the interpretation of efficacy in neoadjuvant breast cancer trials.

Objective: To compare RCB distributions between randomized control and investigational treatments within subtypes of breast cancer and explore the relationship with survival.

Design, Setting, And Participants: The I-SPY2 is a multicenter, platform adaptive, randomized clinical trial in the US that compares, by subtype, investigational agents in combination with chemotherapy vs chemotherapy alone in adult women with stage 2/3 breast cancer at high risk of early recurrence.

A New Approach for the Fabrication of Tetragonal BaTiO₃ Nanoparticles.

For the first time, the BaTiO₃ nano-sized particles were obtained through solid-state reaction by employing the titanium oxide nanoparticle. Meanwhile, by using TiO₂ with micro-sized particles, the synthesized BaTiO₃ shows the micro-sized. The XRD pattern confirms that both BaTiO₃ nano-sized and micro-sized particles display the tetragonal structure.

Respective contribution of urban wastewater and mangroves on nutrient dynamics in a tropical estuary during the monsoon season.

Estuaries of Southeast Asia are increasingly impacted by land-cover changes and pollution. Here, our research objectives were to (1) determine the origins of nutrient loads along the Can Gio estuary (Vietnam) and (2) identify the processes that affect the nutrient pools during the monsoon. We constructed four 24-h time-series along the salinity gradient measuring nutrient concentrations and stable isotopes values.

Single-stage repair for coarctation with ventricular septal defect: results of 100 cases at a single centre.

Objectives: The outcomes of the single-stage surgical repair of aortic arch hypoplasia (AAH) and/or coarctation of the aorta (CoA) associated with ventricular septal defect (VSD) remain controversial, especially in a lower middle-income country. This study reports the results of a single-stage repair protocol at our institution for AAH/CoA with VSD using selective cerebral perfusion.

Methods: This retrospective study included 100 consecutive patients who underwent single-stage repair via median sternotomy using selective cerebral perfusion for AAH/CoA with VSD from July 2010 to March 2017.
