Background: The total burden of migraine includes not only the episodes with headache pain but extends throughout the interictal periods. Interictal symptoms and associated psychological responses may profoundly impact well-being and drive treatment-seeking behavior.
Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was conducted with participants aged ≥ 18 years, 250 with episodic migraine (EM) and 250 with chronic migraine (CM), having ≥ 4 monthly migraine headache days.
Introduction: Migraine is under-diagnosed and under-treated. Many people with migraine do not seek medical care, and those who do may initially receive a different diagnosis and/or be dissatisfied with provided care on their journey before treatment with a CGRP-mAb (calcitonin-gene-related-peptide monoclonal antibody).
Methods: This is a cross-sectional, self-reported, online survey of subjects in Lilly's Emgality Patient Support Program in 2022.
Objective: To evaluate, at population and individual patient levels, the sustained response of reduction in migraine headache days in patients with migraine treated with galcanezumab.
Methods: This was a post hoc analysis of double-blind galcanezumab studies in patients with migraine: two 6-month episodic migraine (EM; EVOLVE-1/EVOLVE-2), one 3-month chronic migraine (CM; REGAIN), and one 3-month treatment-resistant migraine (CONQUER). Patients received monthly subcutaneous galcanezumab 120 mg (after 240 mg initial loading dose), galcanezumab 240 mg, or placebo.
Atomic devices such as atomic clocks and optically-pumped magnetometers rely on the interrogation of atoms contained in a cell whose inner content has to meet high standards of purity and accuracy. Glass-blowing techniques and craftsmanship have evolved over many decades to achieve such standards in macroscopic vapor cells. With the emergence of chip-scale atomic devices, the need for miniaturization and mass fabrication has led to the adoption of microfabrication techniques to make millimeter-scale vapor cells.

Headache attacks that are accompanied by a combination of impact on daily activities, photophobia and/or nausea are most commonly migraine. The headache phase of a migraine attack has attracted more research, assessment tools and treatment goals than any other feature, characteristic, or phase of migraine.

Methods: Patients from two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials (MONONOFU and CENTURION) were instructed to treat an attack with a single dose of study medication within four hours of pain onset.
Background: Comparator selection is an important consideration in the design of observational research studies that evaluate potential associations between drug therapies and adverse event risks. It can affect the validity of observational study results, and potentially impact data interpretation, regulatory decision making, and patient medication access.
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the impact of comparator selection bias using two real-world case studies evaluating an increased rate of acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Introduction: As 5-HT receptor agonists, triptans produce vasoconstriction and have cardiovascular contraindications and precautions. Lasmiditan, a selective 5-HT receptor agonist, has a low affinity for 5-HT receptors, does not cause vasoconstriction, and is free of cardiovascular contraindications and precautions. The objective of this post hoc analysis was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of lasmiditan in patients with and without at least one triptan contraindication.

The aim of this study was to find a possible cortical origin for the DQS using blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) functional (f) MRI.
Methods: Eight HM patients and 13 controls entered the cross-sectional study.
We describe a high-performance, compact optical frequency standard based on a microfabricated Rb vapor cell and a low-noise, external cavity diode laser operating on the Rb two-photon transition at 778 nm. The optical standard achieves an instability of 1.8×10 for times less than 100 s and a flicker noise floor of 1×10 out to 6000 s.

Most visual disturbances associated with migraine can be explained by increased neural hyperexcitability, as suggested by clinical, physiological and neuroimaging evidence. Here, we review how simple (e.

Methods: Pooled data from two single-attack, placebo-controlled studies (SAMURAI [NCT02439320] and SPARTAN [NCT02605174]), and a prospective, randomized, open-label study (GLADIATOR [NCT02565186]) were assessed.
Purpose Of Review: This review covers several aspects our understanding of episodic manifestations and unusual symptoms that may be associated with migraine aura.
Recent Findings: The episodic manifestation of migraine aura is typically visual in nature, although five other types are currently recognized: sensory, speech and/or language, motor, brainstem, and retinal. Other transitory perceptions or experiences such as emotional, olfactory, or auditory have been reported as possible migraine auras.
We show that micro-machined non-evaporable getter pumps (NEGs) can extend the time over which laser cooled atoms can be produced in a magneto-optical trap (MOT), in the absence of other vacuum pumping mechanisms. In a first study, we incorporate a silicon-glass microfabricated ultra-high vacuum (UHV) cell with silicon etched NEG cavities and alumino-silicate glass (ASG) windows and demonstrate the observation of a repeatedly-loading MOT over a 10 min period with a single laser-activated NEG. In a second study, the capacity of passive pumping with laser activated NEG materials is further investigated in a borosilicate glass-blown cuvette cell containing five NEG tablets.

Here we demonstrate a compact, low-power optical frequency reference based on the Doppler-free, two-photon transition in rubidium-87 at 778 nm implemented on a micro-optics breadboard. Our optical reference achieves a fractional frequency instability of 2.

We mainly emphasize aspects of his personal life and personality traits. Considered one of the three greatest neurologists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, his brilliant career began at La Salpêtrière, followed by the development of a neurological school at Hospice Bicêtre.

The adsorption of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (2-MBT) vapor on a Cu(111) surface under ultra-low pressure was investigated. For an exposure of 45 L at 150 °C, a Moiré pattern was observed as a result of the superposition of an underlying R30° structure and an outer layer compressed by 18% and rotated by 1.2°.

Although the triptans, potent 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonists, are an effective and widely used acute treatment of migraine, few studies have assessed how their cardiovascular risk warnings could impact prescription patterns. This study characterized cardiovascular risk factors and other aspects of people with migraine in real-world settings and confirmed patterns of acute migraine care.

The demonstration of miniature atomic clocks (MACs) based on coherent population trapping (CPT) with improved mid- and long-term frequency stability benefits from the implementation of additional stabilization loops to reduce temperature-induced light-shift effects. In this article, we report and highlight the individual and combined benefits of such servo loops on the frequency stability of a CPT-based MAC. The first loop stabilizes the actual temperature of the vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) chip using a compensation method in which the reading of external temperature variations is derived from the atomic vapor output signal.

The efficient light-matter interaction and discrete level structure of atomic vapors made possible numerous seminal scientific achievements including time-keeping, extreme non-linear interactions, and strong coupling to electric and magnetic fields in quantum sensors. As such, atomic systems can be regarded as a highly resourceful quantum material platform. Recently, the field of thin optical elements with miniscule features has been extensively studied demonstrating an unprecedented ability to control photonic degrees of freedom.

Less well known are the facts related to the tragic death of his beloved wife shortly after the birth of his only child, the unjustifiable distance he was forced to keep from this son for more than 30 years, and of being humiliated and professionally despised by his peers. These events made the life of this physician, physiologist, researcher and inventor extremely arduous.

Therefore, imaging studies directly examining the aura phenomenon are sparse. There are however interictal imaging studies that can shed light on the pathophysiology of the migraine with aura (MWA) cascade.
