Development of Presumptive Sialadenosis Following a Chronic Oropharyngeal Stick Injury in a Dog.

A 3 yr old female spayed Labrador retriever was referred for the treatment of a chronic oropharyngeal stick injury. After computed tomography scan evaluation, the cervical area was explored surgically and a right-sided cervical abscess that contained a wooden stick was identified adjacent to the vagosympathetic trunk and carotid artery. The ipsilateral mandibular salivary gland was resected concurrently given its abnormal appearance, and histology confirmed inflammation and necrosis of the gland, which was suspected to be due to direct trauma from the foreign body.

MRI appearance of multiple displaced osteochondritis dissecans cartilage fragments in the bicipital tendon sheath of a juvenile dog.

A 1-year-old Bernese Mountain dog presented with an acute onset of left thoracic limb lameness. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the left shoulder was performed, showing a subchondral bone defect in the caudomedial aspect of the humeral head. In addition, several round hypointense structures were visible in the biceps tendon sheath.

Presenting signs and clinical outcome in dogs with metaphyseal osteopathy: 39 cases (2009-2018).

Objective: To describe the presenting signs, concurrent conditions, treatment and outcome of dogs with metaphyseal osteopathy.

Materials And Methods: Multi-centre retrospective review of medical records from January 2009 to September 2018 at four referral centres to identify dogs with a radiographic diagnosis of metaphyseal osteopathy.

Results: Thirty-nine dogs were identified.

Suspected Obstructive Sleep Apnea Successfully Treated with Ondansetron in a Pug.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been uncommonly reported in dogs and is often associated with brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS). OSA independent from BOAS has been rarely reported. Treatment of OSA with ondansetron has only been reported in one dog and has not been reported in a breed commonly affected by BOAS.

Outcome of superficial brachial axial pattern flaps used to close skin defects in dogs: 16 cases (1996-2019).

Objectives: To report the complication rate, type of complications and outcome of the superficial brachial axial pattern flap when used for closure of skin defects in dogs.

Materials And Methods: Medical records of dogs treated with a superficial brachial axial pattern flap for closure of a skin defect were reviewed. Information regarding signalment, reason for axial pattern flap use, skin flap size, flap healing, postoperative complications and need for revision surgery was collected.

Prevalence of pulmonary nodules suggestive of metastasis at presentation in dogs with cutaneous or subcutaneous soft tissue sarcoma.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of pulmonary nodules suggestive of metastasis at the time of initial presentation in dogs with cutaneous or subcutaneous soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) and no previous related thoracic diagnostic imaging.

Animals: 146 client-owned dogs with a cutaneous or subcutaneous STS.

Procedures: Medical records were retrospectively searched to identify dogs with STSs that underwent initial thoracic diagnostic imaging when presented for referral examination between September 2014 and March 2018.

Nasal infestation by Linguatula serrata in a dog in the UK: a case report.

A two-year-old, female neutered, cross-breed dog imported from Romania was diagnosed with nasal infestation of Linguatula serrata after she sneezed out an adult female. The dog was presented with mucopurulent/sanguinous nasal discharge, marked left-sided exophthalmia, conjunctival hyperaemia and chemosis. Computed tomography and left frontal sinusotomy revealed no further evidence of adult parasites.
