Here, we present the low-temperature (∼600 °C) solution combustion method for the fabrication of CoFeO, NiFeO, and CoNiFeO nanoparticles (NPs) of 12-64 nm range in pure cubic spinel structure, by adjusting the oxidant (nitrate ions)/reductant (glycine) ratio in the reaction mixture. Although nitrate ions/glycine (N/G) ratios of 3 and 6 were used for the synthesis, phase-pure NPs could be obtained only for the N/G ratio of 6. For the N/G ratio 3, certain amount of Ni cations was reduced to metallic nickel.

The genome of the BM311.1 strain was sequenced and assembled in 359 contigs containing a total of 6,390,221 bp. The plasmidic ORF of a putative gene from this strain was identified as a potential novel Cry protein of 1138 amino acid residues with a 98% identity compared to Cry7Aa1 and a predicted molecular mass of 129.

Selective proximal recession of the medial gastrocnemius head has clear advantages over other approaches and can be performed as a single or combined open procedure for many indications. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a new technique based on ultrasound-guided ultraminimally invasive proximal gastrocnemius recession. We performed a pilot study with 16 cadavers to ensure that the technique was effective and safe; we then prospectively performed gastrocnemius recession in 12 patients (23 cases) with gastrocnemius contracture associated with other indications.

Background: Treatments for Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection have vastly improved over the past few decades with current regimens now offering pangenotypic activity with excellent cure rates reported in clinical trials, including in the HIV-HCV coinfected population. However, there is some concern that stringent inclusion and exclusion criteria in the trials may lead to results that are not achievable in real-world populations.

Polyglutamine expansions in the transcriptional co-repressor Atrophin-1, encoded by ATN1, cause the neurodegenerative condition dentatorubral-pallidoluysian atrophy (DRPLA) via a proposed novel toxic gain of function. We present detailed phenotypic information on eight unrelated individuals who have de novo missense and insertion variants within a conserved 16-amino-acid "HX repeat" motif of ATN1. Each of the affected individuals has severe cognitive impairment and hypotonia, a recognizable facial gestalt, and variable congenital anomalies.
