Percutaneous thrombectomy of fat embolism in-transit.

We report the case of a previously independent 82-year-old female who experienced acute hemodynamic and respiratory deterioration requiring inotropic support due to a fat embolism during revision hip arthroplasty. Computed tomography pulmonary angiography demonstrated fat embolism, and transesophageal echocardiogram showed evidence of right ventricle strain and fat embolism in-transit in the right heart, as well as a moderate patent foramen ovale. Under transesophageal echocardiogram and intravascular ultrasound guidance, the Inari FlowTriever thrombectomy device was used successfully to retrieve the fat embolism with immediate hemodynamic improvement, no complications, and uneventful recovery.

Introduction: Crohn's disease (CD) varies by location, potentially affecting therapy efficacy and surgery risk, although research on this topic is conflicting. This study aims to investigate the independent association between CD location and therapeutic patterns.

Methods: We analyzed patients with CD diagnosed from January 2005 to May 2023 registered in the nationwide ENEIDA registry.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the performance of dedicated iliac venous stents during subsequent pregnancy and postpartum, including stent patency and stent integrity, as well as incidence of venous thromboembolism and bleeding complications.

Methods: This study included retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data of patients attending a private vascular practice. Women of child-bearing age who had received dedicated iliac venous stents were included in a surveillance program and then, for any subsequent pregnancies, followed the same pregnancy care protocol.

We evaluated the QOL of patients with nonvalvular AF who start treatment with apixaban in Latin America. QOL was analyzed through a questionnaire developed to evaluate anticoagulated patients, which was completed by them 3 months after starting treatment.

Low-cost homemade cocktails for enzymatic conversion of sugarcane and cassava bagasses.

The agricultural industries generate lignocellulosic wastes that can be modified by fungi to generate high value-added products. This work aimed to analyze the efficiency and the cost-effectiveness of the bioconversion of sugarcane and cassava bagasses using low-cost homemade enzymatic cocktails from LBM 134. Both bagasses were pretreated with a soft alkaline solution without any loss of polysaccharides.

This work presents an analysis of the existing dependencies between the tests of the FIPS 140-2 battery. Two main analytical approaches are utilized, the first being a study of correlations through the Pearson's correlation coefficient that detects linear dependencies, and the second one being a novel application of the mutual information measure that allows detecting possible non-linear relationships.
