Article Synopsis
  • Current research does not provide a thorough understanding of how medication adherence enhancing interventions (MAEIs) are reimbursed across Europe, prompting the EUREcA study to investigate the landscape of reimbursed MAEIs in various countries.
  • A cross-sectional survey conducted from June to July 2021 surveyed 38 European countries and Israel, revealing only 13 reimbursed MAEIs across nine countries, with the types including multi-dose drug dispensing and mobile applications.
  • The study found a correlation between higher GDP per capita and the availability of reimbursed MAEIs, suggesting that comprehensive assessments and collaboration among stakeholders could improve reimbursement practices and support the implementation of more MAEIs in the future.
