- Tobacco use among Thai youth continues to be a significant issue, with 15% of surveyed students currently using tobacco and a higher prevalence among boys (21.8%) compared to girls (8.1%).
- The study, part of the global youth tobacco survey conducted in 2015, included 1,876 students aged 13-15 from 30 secondary schools and highlighted concerning trends such as easy access to cigarettes for underage smokers.
- Urgent measures are necessary to reduce youth access to tobacco products and address the high rates of smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke in various environments.
