Article Synopsis
  • The study systematically assessed the solid forms of sitagliptin phosphate using various analytical techniques and revealed the transformation from its monohydrate form to a new anhydrous form IV after recrystallizing from ethanol.
  • The new form IV was found to be stable under specific temperature and humidity conditions, while another anhydrous form II produced from thermal heating proved to be metastable and converted into form IV under certain conditions.
  • The research provides an accurate chemical composition for form IV, previously misidentified, and is the first to detail the crystal structure of the metastable anhydrous form II.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are commonly collected from gaseous samples by adsorption to materials such as the porous polymer Tenax TA. Adsorbed compounds are subsequently released from these materials by thermal desorption (TD) and separated then by gas chromatography (GC) with flame ionization (FID) or mass spectrometry (MS) detection. Tenax TA is known to be particularly suitable for non-polar to semipolar volatiles, however, many volatiles from environmental and biological samples possess a rather polar character.
