Spectrum of autoimmune bullous diseases among children in Kuwait.

Background: Autoimmune bullous diseases (AIBD) are rare among children. The data describing the overall spectrum and prognosis of pediatric AIBD (pAIBD) are scarce, and there are no established treatment guidelines.

Objectives: The present study examined the spectrum, clinical characteristics, and long-term prognosis of pAIBD in a tertiary care pediatric dermatology unit.

Integrative Approach to Psoriasis Vulgaris.

In this article, we present a literature review of the most popular and commonly used therapeutic procedures belonging to complementary and alternative medicine, which is part of the modern concept of integrative medicine, used in the treatment of psoriasis. Psoriasis is a chronic, systemic, inflammatory disease wherein skin changes are the most visible sign. It occurs in approximately 1% to 3% of the world population, and the National Psoriasis Foundation of the United States estimates the number of patients in the whole world at about 125 million.

Skin ageing: natural weapons and strategies.

The fact that the skin is the most visible organ makes us aware of the ageing process every minute. The use of plant extracts and herbs has its origins in ancient times. Chronological and photo-ageing can be easily distinguished clinically, but they share important molecular features.

Immunohistohemical evidences of pregnancy in uterine curettage tissue by the use of a double immunocytochemical staining technique using cytokeratin 7 and vimentin antibodies.

Background/aim: Usual histopatological diagnosis of intrauterine pregnancy is made by demonstration of chorionic villi, but in the curettage tissue from intrauterine miscarriage they may not be present in all cases. The use of monoclonal antibody against cytokeratin as a sensitive and reliable marker for the morphologic discrimination between invasive trophoblastic (IT) cells and decidual cells has been well established. The aim of this study was to determine the presence of pregnancy in endometrial curettings when chorionic villi are absent from patients suspected of intrauterine pregnancy.

Nasal-type NK/T-cell lymphoma: a case report.

Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma represents less than 1% of all lymphomas, but is more common in Asia and South America. We present a 67-year-old female with a 10-month history of four reddish-blue firm and painful nodules in the parietal region of the head, ranging in size from 1 to 5 cm. Two nodules were taken for biopsy, which showed atypical lymphoid cells with angiocentric growth pattern.

Dermoscopy of melanoma.

Early detection of malignant melanoma is one of the greatest challenges for dermatologists. Dermoscopy is an in vivo method for the early diagnosis of malignant melanoma and the differential diagnosis of pigmented lesions of the skin. We report a 85-year-old man with a pigmented skin lesion in left mandibular region.

Immunophenotyping of amelanotic melanoma. A case report.

Amelanotic malignant melanoma (AMM) is a subtype of cutaneous melanoma with little or no pigment upon visual inspection. The lack of pigmentation is the reason for late diagnosis of lesions and a poor prognosis. We report a case of a 55-year-old female with an AMM diagnosed by immunophenotyping.
