Purpose: To explore the visual field (VF) changes two years following augmented trabeculectomy.

Methods: A retrospective study of patients who underwent augmented trabeculectomy surgery with mitomycin C by a single surgeon at East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust over 3 years. Patients with a minimum of two years postoperative follow-up were included.

Two-year Outcomes of XEN Implantation with Minimal Bleb Needling.

Aim: Our study aims to report the 2 years outcomes of the XEN implant in a single unit, single surgeon setting with minimal bleb needling.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted. Inclusion criteria were patients who underwent implantation with a XEN device between May 2016 and December 2017.

Patients And Methods: Retrospective review of 200 consecutive surgeries from May 2015 to January 2017. Primary outcomes were intraocular pressure (IOP) control and use of IOP-lowering medications.

Trauma-induced filtering bleb formation and blebitis 40 years following a penetrating eye injury.

A 49-year-old man presented to the emergency eye clinic with a 3-week history of redness, irritation and blurred vision in his right eye, with a noticeable lesion superotemporally on the conjunctiva. He had a previous ocular history of penetrating glass injury in the right eye at the age of 9 years (40 years ago), of which no surgical intervention was performed at that time, as his parents did not seek medical attention. Slit lamp examination revealed a thin, conjunctival cystic bleb at 10 o'clock position with surrounding conjunctival injection and chemosis at close proximity to the site of previous ocular trauma.

Migration of XEN45 Implant: Findings, Mechanism, and Management.

Aim: The aim of this study is to report the mechanism of XEN migration and its management.

Background: Over the past decade, new less invasive surgical approaches for glaucoma have been devised and carried out successfully. One such technique is the use of the XEN gel stent.

Managing Delayed Suprachoroidal Hemorrhage After Insertion of XEN45 Glaucoma Device.

A 78-year-old man with angle closure glaucoma and on treatment with oral anticoagulants, underwent phacoemulsification. An early acute suprachoroidal hemorrhage (SCH) occurred and the surgical wound was rapidly sutured without complete soft lens matter removal, nor insertion of intraocular lens. The SCH was managed conservatively and it resolved in 5 weeks; the intraocular pressure was 35 mm Hg despite maximal medical treatment.

Noninvasive Sweat-Based Diagnosis of Visceral Leishmaniasis and Post Kala-Azar Dermal Leishmaniasis.

The diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is one of the foremost barriers in the control of this disease, as demonstration of the parasite by splenic/bone marrow aspiration is relatively difficult and requires expertise and laboratory support. The aim of the present study was to find a noninvasive diagnostic approach using the existing recombinant kinesine-39 (rK-39) immunochromatographic nitrocellulose strips test (ICT) with a human sweat specimen for the diagnosis of VL. The investigation was carried out on specimens (blood, sweat, and urine) collected from 58 confirmed VL, 50 confirmed post kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL), 36 healthy control, and 35 patients from other diseases.

Chemotherapy-induced anterior necrotising scleritis: A case report.

Purpose: We describe a case of anterior necrotising scleritis secondary to Gemcitabine and Carboplatin chemotherapy agents in a patient with metastatic breast cancer, which has not been previously reported.

Observations: A 50-year-old lady with recurrent metastatic breast cancer presented with unilateral subconjunctival haemorrhage secondary to severe thrombocytopenia eight days following palliative chemotherapy in the form of Gemcitabine and Carboplatin. Twelve days following the initial presentation, the subconjunctival haemorrhage had resolved, however there was evidence of anterior necrotising scleritis with anterior chamber reaction and hypotony with choroidal effusion.

Outcome of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment repair by scleral buckling: The experience of a tertiary referral center in Scotland.

Purpose: The primary aim of this study is to report the outcome of patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) who underwent scleral buckling (SB) surgery.

Methods: This is a retrospective noncomparative case series study of all patients who underwent RRD repair by primary SB between March 2008 and February 2009. Patient demographics, visual outcome, complications, and failure rates were identified and recorded.

Giant melanoacanthoma mimicking malignant melanoma.

Melanoacanthoma denotes a rare variant of pigmented seborrheic keratosis. A 65-year-old male farmer had pigmented, verrucous, itchy, highly painful, progressively growing irregularly oval plaque on left side of lower back for the past five years. The indurated lesion, measuring maximum diameter 10 cm × 5 cm, had no discharge, bleeding, ulceration, or associated lymphadenopathy.

Bell's palsy in a 3-month-old infant: recommendations for management of pediatric cases.

Bell's palsy is an idiopathic unilateral paresis or paralysis of the facial nerve. The authors describe a 3-month-old infant with Bell's palsy and detail the investigation and management appropriate for the pediatric age group.
