Intra-orbital fat necrosis following transcaruncular orbitotomy mimicking a surgical site infection: A case report.

Fat necrosis is a benign non-suppurative inflammation of adipose tissue most commonly occurring in breast, subcutaneous tissue or intraabdominal fat post trauma, surgery, radiation. Transcaruncularorbitotomy provides a safe, rapid, and cosmetically pleasing approach to the medial wall and orbital apex. Intraorbital fat necrosis as its complication has not been documented in literature.

Preoperative embolisation of orbital solitary fibrous tumour.

Solitary fibrous tumours (SFT) is an encompassing terminology comprising of tumours with proliferating CD34 positive specialised fibroblasts. Orbital SFTs are rare slowly progressive highly vascular neoplasms. Complete surgical excision is considered the mainstay treatment.

Retained intraorbital wooden foreign body presenting with combined anterior and posterior scleritis.

Penetrating injury of the orbit with a wooden stick is not an uncommon finding in ocular emergencies. A 36-year-old man presented with redness, pain in the left eye following fall from a motorcycle 3 days ago. Ocular examination showed features of combined anterior and posterior scleritis in the form of an anterior scleral nodule, retinal folds and T sign on ultrasonography.

Ciliary body tumour as the presenting manifestation of metastatic non-small cell adenocarcinoma of lung.

We report a rare case of ciliary body metastasis from adenocarcinoma of the lung. Although the metastatic nodule was seen over the surface of the iris near the angle of anterior chamber, ultrasonography confirmed its origin from the ciliary body. Uveal metastasis may be the first sign of lung cancer.

Ground scratching and preferred leg use in domestic chicks: changes in motor control in the first two weeks post-hatching.

Lateralisation of a variety of visual functions: food discrimination, fear response, copulation, and performance of topographical and other tasks, such as olfactory and auditory functions, have been described in the domestic chick, Gallus gallus domesticus. A bias to left hemisphere control on day 8 and to the right on day 11 has also been demonstrated in the domestic chick. In this study we show that motor control as to foot preference in initiating a scratching bout and a tape-removing task is lateralised in both adults and chicks.
