The study comprehensively investigated the therapeutic potential of triterpenoid saponin extract (GST), encompassing its hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory, and anticancer activities. The study employed a Prednisolone (PRD)-induced immunosuppressed rat model to assess the hepatoprotective and immunomodulatory effects of GST. Using this model, GST was found to modulate haematopoiesis, improving RBC, platelet, and WBC counts, underscoring its potential in hematopoietic homeostasis.

Isolation and characterization of plumbagin (5- hydroxyl- 2- methylnaptalene-1,4-dione) producing endophytic fungi from endemic medicinal plants: Isolation and characterization of plumbagin producing endophytic fungi from endemic medicinal plants.

The rationale of the present study was to isolate and identify endophytic fungi from endemic medicinal plants in Eastern Ghats and screened for antimicrobial potential of isolated fungal crude extracts. A total of 329 endophytic strains were isolated from 600 infected leaves and stem cuttings of endemic plants. The diversity and species richness was analyzed statistically and found to be higher in leaf segments than in stem segments.

Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of pyrimidinyl 1,3,4-oxadiazoles, 1,3,4-thiadiazoles and 1,2,4-triazoles.

A new class of methylthio linked pyrimidinyl 1,3,4-oxadiazoles, 1,3,4-thiadiazoles and 1,2,4-triazoles were prepared under conventional and ultrasound irradiation methods. All the compounds were obtained in higher yields and in shorter reaction times in ultrasound irradiation method when compared with the conventional method. The title compounds were tested for antimicrobial activity.

Leptin inhibitors from fungal endophytes (LIFEs): Will be novel therapeutic drugs for obesity and its associated immune mediated diseases.

Treatment of obesity and its associated immune mediated diseases is challenging due to impaired function of leptin system. Thus leptin is providing an interesting target for therapeutic intervention. Leptin, an adipose tissue-derived adipokine, displays a variety of immune functions, and regulate both innate and adaptive immune responses.

Structure elucidation and antioxidant activity of the phenolic compounds from Rhynchosia suaveolens.

A new benzophenone, 2-hydroxy-3,4-dimethoxybenzophenone (1), together with a known C-glycosylxanthone, mangiferin (2) and two known C-glycosylflavones, isovitexin (3) and isoorientin (4), were isolated from the flowers of Rhynchosia suaveolens DC. (Fabaceae). The structure of the new compound (1) and the known compounds (2-4) were elucidated by extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectral studies.

Synthesis and antioxidant activity of bis and tris heterocycles.

A variety of bis heterocycles, oxazolyl/thiazolyl/imidazolyl oxadiazoles having a styryl sulfonylmethyl group at the 5-position of oxadiazole and tris heterocycles having a pyrrolyl/pyrazolyl sulfonylmethyl group at the 5-position of oxadiazole were prepared adopting simple and versatile synthetic methodologies. All the compounds were screened for their antioxidant activities. Compound 5b displayed radical scavenging activity in all the three methods greater than the standard ascorbic acid, whereas compounds 8b and 14b showed activities equal to the standard ascorbic acid.

Effectiveness of flavonoid-rich leaf extract of Acalypha indica in reversing experimental myocardial ischemia: biochemical and histopathological evidence.

Objective: In this study, we investigated the antimyocardial ischemic effects of flavonoid-rich methanolic leaf extract of Acalypha indica (AIE).

Methods: An animal model of myocardial ischemic injury was induced by isoproterenol (ISO) in adult rats. Albino Wistar rats were pretreated with the AIE (100 and 200 mg/kg body weight orally) for 30 d followed by ISO (85 mg/kg subcutaneously) at an interval of 24 h for 2 d.
