Effect of Fe doping on the electronic properties of CoSn Kagome semimetal.

Quantum phenomena in two-dimensional Kagome materials lead to exotic topological states and complex magnetism. Here, we have investigated the detailed electronic properties of Co1-xFeSn as a function of composition () to explore the competing electronic interactions for the origin of complex magnetism and topological properties. We find that the screening effect in the valence electrons increases while the correlation effect decreases with an increase in the Fe doping.

Molecular Markers in the World Health Organization Classification of Head and Neck Tumors, Fifth Edition.

The past decade has seen exponential advancements in molecular markers and the genetics of tumors, recognizing the limitations of conventional histopathology for grading, classification, and prognostication. Such advances have resulted in changes to classification systems, for example, with the incorporation of objective molecular and genetic information into the 2021 World Health Organization (WHO) classification of central nervous system tumors. The fifth edition of the WHO classification of head and neck tumors (HN5) (beta online version, 2022) also introduced major changes based on molecular markers, including additions, deletions, and reclassifications of entities, with the idea of being more objective and standardized.

Ultrasound of the gallbladder: not the same bag of tricks.

Imaging evaluation of the gallbladder is a fundamental skill in the majority of radiology practice. Due to ease of accessibility, low cost, lack of ionizing radiation, and excellent spatial resolution, ultrasound is often the first imaging modality used to evaluate the gallbladder. In this invited article we review and update how ultrasound can evaluate common pathologies including gallbladder polyps, tumefactive sludge, adenomyomatosis, and acute cholecystitis.

Multisystem Imaging Manifestations of Kidney Failure.

Kidney failure (KF) refers to a progressive decline in glomerular filtration rate to below 15 ml/min per 1.73 m, necessitating renal replacement therapy with dialysis or renal transplant. The hemodynamic and metabolic alterations in KF combined with a proinflammatory and coagulopathic state leads to complex multisystemic complications.

Acute onset of a cold, painful leg, also known as acute limb ischemia, describes the sudden loss of perfusion to the lower extremity and carries significant risk of morbidity and mortality. Acute limb ischemia requires rapid identification and the management of suspected vascular compromise and is inherently driven by clinical considerations. The objectives of initial imaging include confirmation of diagnosis, identifying the location and extent of vascular occlusion, and preprocedural/presurgical planning.

Iron is one of the highly abundant elements on the earth's crust, an essential micronutrient for a majority of life forms, and exists in two frequent oxidation states such as ferrous (Fe) and ferric (Fe). These two oxidation states are interconvertible by redox reactions and form complexes with a wide range of siderophores. At neutral pH in soil, Fe is highly soluble upto 100 mM but have less biological value, whereas Fe is less soluble upto 10 M.

Update from the 5th Edition of the WHO Classification of Nasal, Paranasal, and Skull Base Tumors: Imaging Overview with Histopathologic and Genetic Correlation.

Sinonasal and skull base tumors are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms with considerable histologic variation and overlapping imaging features. In 2022, the World Health Organization updated the head and neck tumor classification, further emphasizing the importance of molecular data and genetic alterations in sinonasal neoplasms. The changes include the addition of new entities and discussion of emerging entities, as well as changes to the taxonomy and characterization of tumors.

Multimodality Imaging of Anterior Compartment Pelvic Floor Repair.

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI) are two common disorders that affect the anterior compartment of the pelvic floor in women. These can be treated conservatively or surgically. Among patients treated surgically, a substantial number present with pain, recurrent POP or SUI, or other conditions that warrant additional interventions.

The rice-maize system is a dominant cropping system of south Asia and consumes a considerable amount of fertilizer. Prevention of aspirin-mediated secondary toxicity by combined treatment of carotenoids in macrophages.

The current study investigates the carotenoids potential on inhibition of secondary complications induced by NSAIDs, aspirin (ASA) against lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulated inflammation. Magneto-strain effects in 2D ferromagnetic van der Waal material CrGeTe[Formula: see text].

The idea of strain based manipulation of spins in magnetic two-dimensional (2D) van der Waal (vdW) materials leads to the development of new generation spintronic devices. Magneto-strain arises in these materials due to the thermal fluctuations and magnetic interactions which influences both the lattice dynamics and the electronic bands. Here, we report the mechanism of magneto-strain effects in a vdW material CrGeTe[Formula: see text] across the ferromagnetic (FM) transition.

ACR Appropriateness Criteria® Workup of Noncerebral Systemic Arterial Embolic Source.

Noncerebral systemic arterial embolism, which can originate from cardiac and noncardiac sources, is an important cause of patient morbidity and mortality. When an embolic source dislodges, the resulting embolus can occlude a variety of peripheral and visceral arteries causing ischemia. Characteristic locations for noncerebral arterial occlusion include the upper extremities, abdominal viscera, and lower extremities.

Safety and clinical outcomes in endovascular treatment for symptomatic cerebral venous thrombosis: a single-center experience with meta-analysis.

The role of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVT) is ambiguous. This study aims to share our experience with MT in CVT, supplemented by a meta-analysis on this treatment. All patients who had MT for CVT at our institution, between 2016 and 2021, were retrospectively reviewed for treatment indications, the technique used, success and complication rates, and clinical outcomes.

Artifacts and Technical Considerations at Contrast-enhanced US.

Contrast-enhanced US (CEUS), similar to other radiologic modalities, requires specific technical considerations and is subject to image artifacts. These artifacts may affect examination quality, negatively impact diagnostic accuracy, and decrease user comfort when using this emerging technique. Some artifacts are related to commonly known gray-scale US artifacts that can also appear on the contrast-only image (tissue-subtracted image obtained with the linear responses from background tissues nulled).

Impact of Steam Inhalation, Saline Gargling, and Povidone-Iodine Gargling on Clinical Outcome of COVID-19 Patients in Bengaluru, Karnataka: A Randomized Control Trial.

Context: In the absence of any specific treatment available for COVID-19, people started practicing traditional nonpharmacological preventive home remedies such as salt water gargling and steam inhalation. The available research evidence on some of these measures opines that steam inhalation, saline gargling, and povidone-iodine gargling does have virucidal properties and do provide symptomatic relief.

Aims: The aim is to test this hypothesis, and the present trial was undertaken with an objective to assess the effect of steam inhalation, saline gargling, and povidone-iodine gargling among the COVID-19-positive patients with respect to early test negativity and clinical recovery.

Development and validation of a LC-MS/MS method for simultaneous quantification of Ivabradine and Metoprolol in rat plasma.

The combination of Ivabradine (IVA) and Metoprolol (MET) was approved by US-FDA for symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris. Hence, a potential analytical method that can simultaneously quantify these two drugs is required. In view of this, a novel and fully validated LC-ESI-MS/MS method has been established for the quantification of IVA and MET in rat plasma.

Intercostal Artery Aneurysmosis Secondary to Chronic Cocaine Abuse.

Intercostal artery aneurysms are rare entities usually seen in connective tissue disorders and inflammatory conditions and syndromes like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Kawasaki's disease, and neurofibromatosis. Spontaneous development of intercostal aneurysm is rare and the presence of multiple aneurysms/aneurysmosis is exceedingly rare. Although there have been a few case reports on aortic aneurysm, coronary artery aneurysms and many on ruptured cerebral aneurysms, we could not find a single case of spontaneous intercostal artery aneurysm secondary to chronic cocaine abuse.

Heart Failure in Patients with Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease: Challenges and Opportunities.

Background: Heart failure (HF), diabetes mellitus (DM), and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are commonly occurring and interlinked conditions.
