Hematological profile of sickle cell disease from South Gujarat, India.

The aim of this study was to determine hematological profile of sickle cell disease (SCD) from Surat, South Gujarat, India. This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted in the Department of Pediatrics and Sickle Cell Anemia Laboratory, Faculty of Pathology, Government Medical College, Surat, India, between July 2009 and December 2010. Patients included in this study were in their steady state for a long period of time without any symptoms related to SCD or other diseases which could affect the hematological parameters.

Determinants of Overweight and Obesity in Affluent Adolescent in Surat City, South Gujarat region, India.

Background: Obesity is a major global burden. Low levels of physical activity, TV watching, and dietary pattern are modifiable risk factors for overweight and obesity in adolescent.

Objective: The objective of this study was to determine risk factors for overweight and obesity among affluent adolescent, in Surat city in south Gujarat.

Background: Early diagnosis of hypertension (HT) is an important strategy in its control. Previous studies have documented that hypertension may begin in adolescence, perhaps even in childhood. Diffuse pulmonary hemorrhage as presenting syndrome of HIV disease.

Pulmonary hemorrhage is infrequently encountered in pediatrics. It can occur in isolation or in association with an underlying condition. We report a case of diffuse pulmonary hemorrhage as a presenting syndrome of HIV disease.
