Pancreatitis had been erroneously diagnosed in a 50-year-old female patient with primary sicca syndrome with chronic salivary-gland-caused increase of amylase of 5 years' standing. Differentiation of amylase into isoenzymes showed clearly increased salivary amylase with normal pancreatic amylase. Little is known on the increase of amylase in Sjögren's syndrome.

A case report is given of a patient, who developed actinomycosis at the anastomosis after Billroth II type of resection of the stomach. Physical examination revealed an upper abdominal mass in this patient; a clear diagnosis could not be established before surgery was done, the most likely diagnosis was considered to be a pancreatic pseudocyst. During surgery a carcinoma of the stomach was suspected.

Thirty boys rated as hyperactive by their teachers and parents received penoline or placebo in a double blind design. A variety of measures were taken during the nine week blind period. Behavior ratings were made on the Conners scale at 4 time intervals showing that a significant improvement in the drug group was observed by the teachers, but no significant change occurred in the ratings by the parents and physician.

The increase in incidence of iron poisoning due to children's chewable vitamins with iron is discussed. The authors reviewed nine of these products. It is of concern that each package contained more than the lethal amount of iron for a young child.
