Incorporating and elevating the voices of patients and families is of utmost importance in pediatric psychosocial research. While recognized as a priority, this practice is not commonplace, and specific guidance regarding best practices and procedures is largely absent. This paper describes partnering equitably with pediatric oncology patient advocacy groups to conduct the Implementing the Standards Together: Engaging Parents and Providers in Psychosocial Care (iSTEPPP) study.

Independent predictors of mortality and 5-year trends in mortality and resource utilization in hospitalized patients with diffuse large B cell lymphoma.

Background: This retrospective study analyzed factors influencing all-cause inpatient mortality in 80,930 adult patients (2016-2020) with diffuse large B cell lymphoma using the National Inpatient Sample database.

Methods: Utilizing ICD-10 codes, patients were identified, and statistical analysis was conducted using STATA. Fisher's exact and Student's tests compared proportions and variables, multivariate logistic regression examined mortality predictors, and a 5-year longitudinal analysis identified mortality and resource utilization trends.

Genomic and Molecular Abnormalities in Gynecologic Clear Cell Carcinoma.

Gynecologic clear cell carcinoma is a rare histology, accounting for ~5% of all ovarian and endometrial cancers in the United States. Compared to other types of gynecologic cancer, they are generally less responsive to standard therapy and have an overall worse prognosis. In addition, mounting evidence suggests that the landscape of genetic and molecular abnormalities observed in these tumors is distinct from other cancers that arise from the same sites of origin.

C-H activation reactions of ruthenium N-heterocyclic carbene complexes: application in a catalytic tandem reaction involving C-C bond formation from alcohols.

A series of ruthenium hydride N-alkyl heterocyclic carbene complexes has been investigated as catalysts for a tandem oxidation/Wittig/reduction reaction to give C-C bonds from alcohols. The C-H-activated carbene complex Ru(IiPr(2)Me(2))'(PPh(3))(2)(CO)H (9) proves to be the most active precursor catalyzing the reaction of PhCH(2)OH and Ph(3)P=CHCN in 3 h at 70 degrees C. These results provide (a) a rare case in which N-alkyl carbenes afford higher catalytic activity than their N-aryl counterparts and (b) a novel example of the importance of NHC C-H activation in a catalytic cycle.
