A retrospective review of sex differences of white matter hyperintensities in brain MRI of patients with migraine.

Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) in patients who experience migraine and compare findings between adult male and female patients. Specific symptoms and comorbidities also were analyzed to determine whether they were associated with WMH prevalence or the sex of patients with migraine. We hypothesized that females would have a higher prevalence of WMHs, experience more frequent and more severe migraine headaches, and be more likely to have certain comorbidities associated with migraine than males.

A Case of a Serum Sickness-Like Reaction After Postexposure Rabies Prophylaxis.

Background: Serum sickness secondary to rabies postexposure prophylaxis is not well documented in the medical literature. Our case describes serum sickness after exposure to human-derived rabies immunoglobulin (HRIG) and three human diploid rabies vaccines (HDCV) in a young adult male.

Case Report: A 30-year-old previously healthy male patient presented to the Emergency Department with complaints of fever, rash, and jaundice, and had a hospital course complicated by biliary stenosis likely secondary to reactive periportal lymphadenopathy.

Optimizing Workflow in Combined Petrosectomy Approaches: Surgical Technique and Case Series.

Background And Objective: The combined petrosectomy is one of the workhorse skull base approaches to the petroclival region. Traditionally, this approach starts with a temporosuboccipital craniotomy, followed by the mastoidectomy/anterior petrosectomy, and completed with the dural opening/tumor resection. This sequence of events (neurosurgery-neuro-otology-neurosurgery) involves at least 2 handoffs and change of surgical teams and instrumentation.
