[Pluripathology among inpatients: characteristics of hospitalized patients in medical clinic wards].

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of pluripathology and polypharmacy among hospitalized patients in internal medicine wards at an acute care hospital, including their sociodemographic and clinical characteristics.

Methods: Observational, prospective, longitudinal, descriptive and analytical study. All patients hospitalized in the internal medicine ward at Hospital Tornú from May to September 2019 were included through consecutive sampling.

Improving Waiting Time for Chemotherapy with Ahead-of-Time Drug Preparation.

Waiting time for chemotherapy infusion is a fundamental factor to measure quality of care. It has been shown that a prolonged waiting time is related to a higher incidence of anticipatory nausea and poor patient adherence to scheduled appointments and recommended oncology treatment programs. Some chemotherapy regimens can be prepared hours ahead-of-time, due to long stability.

Stimulation of cortical bone formation with thienopyrimidine based inhibitors of Notum Pectinacetylesterase.

A group of small molecule thienopyrimidine inhibitors of Notum Pectinacetylesterase are described. We explored both 2-((5,6-thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-yl)thio)acetic acids and 2-((6,7-thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-yl)thio)acetic acids. In both series, highly potent, orally active Notum Pectinacetylesterase inhibitors were identified.

Design, synthesis, and in vivo activity of novel inhibitors of delta-5 desaturase for the treatment of metabolic syndrome.

The synthesis, SAR, and in vivo activity of inhibitors of delta-5 desaturase are described. Ring-constraint of the initial series provided access to a variety of in vitro active chemotypes, from which the indazole was selected. Examples from the indazole series displayed in vivo activity in reducing the enzymatic activity of liver delta-5 desaturase.

Aryloxazolidinediones: identification of potent orally active PPAR dual alpha/gamma agonists.

A series of novel aryloxazolidine-2,4-diones was synthesized. A structure-activity relationship study of these compounds led to the identification of potent, orally active PPAR dual alpha/gamma agonists. Based on the results of efficacy studies in the db/db mice model of type 2 diabetes and the desired pharmacokinetic parameters, compound 12 was selected for further profiling.
