Background: While effective, DAc injections for submental fat (SMF) reduction carry risks, including vascular damage and skin necrosis when improperly administered. This study presents a novel approach to SMF reduction using blunt microcannulas for DAc injections, coupled with 3D stereophotogrammetry quantification (3D-SQ).
Clinical Presentation: A 47-year-old female with SMF underwent two DAc applications.
Myomodulation (MyoMo) using hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers can be considered as a novel aesthetic treatment for gummy smile (GS). However, literature is still lacking information about this procedure. For this reason, the aim of the present case report was to describe a technique for MyoMo with HA as an efficient alternative for the management of GS.

Nonsurgical cosmetic treatments have significantly increased over the last decade. Therefore, this study aims to review the features that should be considered in orofacial esthetic procedures, thorough of a proposal of a new concept called the tissue mimicry concept (MIMT concept) and filling techniques. The MIMT concept described in this article comprises knowledge about anatomy of the face and associated structures, understanding of aging and how this process affects the facial tissues interactions (skin, subcutaneous tissues, muscles, and bones), interpretation of facial analysis, comprehension of dermal fillers characteristics and discernment of the correct filling technique for each region.

Objective: Measure, noninvasively, the deposition of bilirubin in the tooth by using DIAGNOdent and correlate it to liver dysfunction.
Study Design: After confirming the capacity of DIAGNOdent to measure varying bile concentrations in plaster blocks, a cholestatic liver disease model was studied to detect increasing bilirubin impregnation in the teeth of rats. Wistar-EPM rats (n = 50) were divided into three groups: (1) BDL: rats submitted to bile duct ligation (BDL); (2) Naïve: rats without procedure; and (3) Sham: rats submitted to laparotomy without BDL (n = 10/period/group).
Microcirculatory dysfunction plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of severe sepsis and septic shock; hence, microcirculation blood flow monitoring has gained increasing attention. However, microcirculatory imaging is still investigational in human sepsis and has not yet been incorporated into routine clinical practice for several reasons, including the difficult interpretation of microcirculation imaging data, difficulty to draw a parallel between sublingual microcirculation imaging and organ microcirculation dysfunction, as well as the absence of microvessel dysfunction parameters defining sequential microcirculatory changes from the early to late stages of the disease, which could aid in the context of therapeutic approaches and of prognostic parameters. The purpose of this review was to bridge the experimental abdominal organ microvascular derangement kinetics and clinical aspects of microcirculatory findings in the early phase of severe sepsis/septic shock.
