Article Synopsis
  • The study is a retrospective cohort analysis that aims to evaluate whether MRI parameters and radiological scoring systems can predict recovery from acute traumatic central cord injury syndrome (CCS).
  • Researchers looked at data from 60 patients treated either conservatively or surgically from 2011 to 2018, analyzing their cervical MRIs and neurological scores over an average follow-up of about 51 months.
  • Results indicated that certain MRI measurements, specifically sagittal grading, canal volume, and cord area at the site of compression, correlated significantly with recovery rates, suggesting they could serve as useful tools in predicting patient outcomes.

Unlabelled: This study assessed the possibility of diagnosing and excluding osteoporosis with routine abdominal CT scans in a Chinese population who underwent both DXA and CT for unrelated reasons. Statistical correlation was made between the HU measured of the spine on CT and various parameters on DXA. Diagnostic cutoff points in terms of HU were established for the diagnosis (≤ 136 HU) and exclusion (≥ 175 HU) of osteoporosis on sagittal reformatted images.
