Iliopsoas tendonitis following total hip arthroplasty (THA) can be challenging to diagnose due to the many causes of postoperative groin pain. This case involves a 66-year-old female with right-sided hip and groin pain and a palpable mass, 3 years post-THA. Initial recovery was unremarkable until the sudden onset of symptoms after exercise.

However, performing a "tourniquetless TKA" has a variety of meanings regarding the timing and application of a tourniquet and associated techniques. The purpose of this systematic review was to evaluate the literature and more accurately define "tourniquetless TKA.

Methods: A systematic review was performed to assess the evidence supporting the use of smartphone apps and wearable devices to assist rehabilitation interventions following TKA. A search was conducted in the PubMed, Cochrane, Medline, and Web of Science databases in September 2021.
Background: Transitioning patients from the hospital to home after a total hip or knee arthroplasty is challenging. Severe pain, comorbidities and complex medication regimes have the potential to delay readiness for discharge, increase length of stay (LOS), and cause readmissions.
Objective: The goal of this practice improvement project was to improve patient readiness for discharge after total joint arthroplasty to reduce LOS, prevent emergency department (ED) visits, and prevent hospital readmissions.

Introduction: There is a projected exponential increase in the number of hip fractures in the United States. Trends in patient demographics and the role of total hip arthroplasty (THA) and its associated outcomes following hip fractures surgery have not been well studied.
Methods: Patients with proximal femur fractures between 1990 and 2007 were identified in the National Hospital Discharge Survey database.
Objectives: To determine whether opioid use disorders (OUDs) are associated with adverse perioperative outcomes in patients undergoing surgical fixation for proximal femur fractures.
Methods: The National Hospital Discharge Survey was queried to identify patients surgically treated for proximal femur fractures between 1990 and 2007. Patients were grouped into those with a diagnosis of OUD, nonopioid drug use disorder, or neither.
Introduction: The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) published a series of evidence-based guidelines for treatment of knee osteoarthritis (OA). We studied compliance with these guidelines among orthopaedic surgeons.
Methods: We sent a survey to members of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Unlabelled: The popularity of total knee arthroplasty combined with the aging US population indicates a dramatic increase in revision TKA procedures. Our objective was to project revision surgery costs in the United States, and to estimate the financial burden for hospitals historically under-reimbursed for these complex surgical procedures. Inflation adjusted charge data derived from a series of knee revision surgeries performed by a single surgeon practice (CJL) (n = 100) were applied to population projections of the number of revision surgeries expected for the Medicare population from 2005-2030.

Unlabelled: Thigh pain after arthroplasty first was identified in the joint replacement literature in 1988; little information has been published about the functional status of patients who develop this complication. Eleven patients who reported thigh pain at 2 years after cementless primary total hip arthroplasty were matched with patients who did not report thigh pain on the following characteristics: age, gender, diagnosis, bone type, and surgical procedure (ie, unilateral or bilateral). Preoperative WOMAC function scores were different in these two groups (53.
