Late bioprosthetic valve thrombosis (bPVT) is a rare and potentially life-threatening complication following valve replacement with thrombus formation leading mostly to valvular stenosis or embolic phenomena. Clinically, it manifests as symptoms of fatigue, dyspnea, or reduced exercise capacity. The existing treatment guidelines lack clear recommendations for managing this specific presentation.

Objective: To analyze if partial premature ovulation (PPO) detection during oocyte pick-up (OPU) impairs the quality of the retrieved oocyte cohort.

Methods: The PPO concept refers to the situation when premature ovulation happens only in some of the follicles and it is detected during OPU. This study constitutes a retrospective analysis performed in an infertility clinic (Spain) during 2016-2021 with patients undergoing OPU after controlled ovarian hyperstimulation for an in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment.

In this work, we study the influence of the different surface terminations of c-plane sapphire substrates on the synthesis of graphene via plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The different terminations of the sapphire surface are controlled by a plasma process. Crystal phase quantum dots (QDs) are formed during the axial growth of III-V semiconductor nanowires (NWs) by stacking different crystal phases of the same material. In III-V semiconductor NWs, both zinc blende (ZB) and wurtzite (WZ) crystal phases can coexist. The band structure difference between both crystal phases can lead to quantum confinement.

The Pathway of Female Couples in a Fertility Clinic.

Objective:  The present study aims to describe the main characteristics of female couples resorting to a fertility clinic, to understand whether these patients have clear previous plans concerning procreation and how they end up completing their family planning, and to briefly describe the main outcomes of the (ROPA, in the Spanish acronym: in English, reception of partner's oocytes) method.

Methods:  This is a descriptive retrospective study of the pathway and outcomes of female couples in a fertility clinic during a 2-year period.

Results:  A total of 129 couples were treated.

Technology-Assisted Collaborative Care Program for People with Diabetes and/or High Blood Pressure Attending Primary Health Care: A Feasibility Study.

The comorbidity of depression with physical chronic diseases is usually not considered in clinical guidelines. This study evaluated the feasibility of a technology-assisted collaborative care (TCC) program for depression in people with diabetes and/or high blood pressure (DM/HBP) attending a primary health care (PHC) facility in Santiago, Chile. Twenty people diagnosed with DM/HBP having a Patient Health Questionnaire-9 score ≥ 15 points were recruited.

Background: Depression and chronic diseases are frequently comorbid public health problems. However, clinical guidelines often fail to consider comorbidities. This study protocol describes a cluster randomized trial (CRT) aimed to compare the effectiveness of a collaborative, computer-assisted, psycho-educational intervention versus enhanced usual care (EUC) in the treatment of depressed patients with hypertension and/or diabetes in primary care clinics (PCC) in Santiago, Chile.

Wafer-scale nanofabrication of sub-100 nm arrays by deep-UV displacement Talbot lithography.

In this manuscript, we demonstrate the potential of replacing the standard bottom anti-reflective coating (BARC) with a polymethylglutarimide (PMGI) layer for wafer-scale nanofabrication by means of deep-UV displacement talbot lithography (DTL). PMGI is functioning as a developable non-UV sensitive bottom anti-reflective coating (DBARC). After introducing the fabrication process using a standard BARC-based coating and the novel PMGI-based one, the DTL nanopatterning capabilities for both coatings are compared by means of the fabrication of etched nanoholes in a dielectric layer and metal nanodots made by lift-off.

Template-assisted vapour-liquid-solid growth of InP nanowires on (001) InP and Si substrates.

We report on the synthesis of vertical InP nanowire arrays on (001) InP and Si substrates using template-assisted vapour-liquid-solid growth. A thick silicon oxide layer was first deposited on the substrates. The samples were then patterned by electron beam lithography and deep dry etching through the oxide layer down to the substrate surface.

Primary health care clinicians play an important role in the management of depression. Thus, it is very important to have a valid and reliable assessment of the competences needed to manage depression in primary health care, with the use of clinical simulation providing such an opportunity. The present study describes the assessment of primary health care clinicians' depression-related skills through a series of objective structured clinical examination stations.

[Profile of heart failure according to the department of admission. Implications for multidisciplinary management].

Introduction: Population aging has led to notable changes in heart failure admissions. The aim of this study was to analyse the characteristics, comorbidity, management, and outcomes of this patient population in three hospital departments.

Methods: An analysis was made of a prospective register that included all patients admitted due to heart failure in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Geriatrics over a period of 45 days.

An InN/InGaN quantum dot electrochemical biosensor for clinical diagnosis.

Low-dimensional InN/InGaN quantum dots (QDs) are demonstrated for realizing highly sensitive and efficient potentiometric biosensors owing to their unique electronic properties. The InN QDs are biochemically functionalized. The fabricated biosensor exhibits high sensitivity of 97 mV/decade with fast output response within two seconds for the detection of cholesterol in the logarithmic concentration range of 1 × 10⁻⁶ M to 1 × 10⁻³ M.
