Chiral Amphiphilic Secondary Amine-Porphyrin Hybrids for Aqueous Organocatalysis.

Two chiral proline-derived amphiphilic 5-substituted-10,15,20-tris(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrins were prepared, and their pH-dependent supramolecular behavior was studied. In neutral aqueous solutions, the free-base form of the hybrids is highly soluble, allowing enamine-based organocatalysis to take place, whereas under acidic conditions, the porphyrinic protonated core of the hybrid leads to the formation of self-assembled structures, so that the hybrids flocculate and their catalytic activity is fully suppressed. The low degree of chirality transfer observed for aqueous Michael and aldol reactions strongly suggests that these reactions take place under true "in water" organocatalytic conditions.

Influence of MUC5B gene on antisynthetase syndrome.

MUC5B rs35705950 (G/T) is strongly associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and also contributes to the risk of interstitial lung disease (ILD) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA-ILD) and chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis (CHP). Due to this, we evaluated the implication of MUC5B rs35705950 in antisynthetase syndrome (ASSD), a pathology characterised by a high ILD incidence. 160 patients with ASSD (142 with ILD associated with ASSD [ASSD-ILD+]), 232 with ILD unrelated to ASSD (comprising 161 IPF, 27 RA-ILD and 44 CHP) and 534 healthy controls were genotyped.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) represents a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for solid organ transplant recipients, particularly after lung transplant (LT). Our aim was to determine the impact of TB in LT patients in Spain, considering prevalence, clinical presentation, prevention and therapeutic management. In addition, differences in outcome between rifampicin (RIF) versus non-RIF containing regimens were analyzed.

Exergaming for Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury: A Pilot Study.

Objective: Commercially available exergames that are for wheelchair-bound individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) are scarce. This study sought to identify exergames for individuals with SCI that are "dose-potent" for health benefits.

Materials And Methods: Six participants with SCI were recruited for a pilot study to investigate the exercise intensity of selected exergames (Move Tennis, Move Boxing, and Move Gladiator Duel) for the potential to improve health.
