Methods: T1D adults attending a tertiary diabetes service were recruited into this cross-sectional study. People screening positive for severe anxiety or depression were not included.

Background/objectives: Early life gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in shaping immunity, metabolism, and overall health outcomes. This is relevant in healthy infants but may be even more crucial in infants with chronic devastating diseases, such as cystic fibrosis (CF). While the introduction of solid foods in healthy infants modifies the composition of colonic microbiota, less knowledge is available on those with CF.

Implementing a Patient Portal for the Remote Follow-Up of Self-Isolating Patients With COVID-19 Infection Through Patient and Stakeholder Engagement (the Opal-COVID Study): Mixed Methods Pilot Study.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic was an unprecedent challenge to public health systems, with 95% of cases in Quebec sent home for self-isolation. To ensure continuous care, we implemented an intervention supported by a patient portal (Opal) to remotely monitor at-home patients with COVID-19 via daily self-reports of symptoms, vital signs, and mental health that were reviewed by health care professionals.

Objective: We describe the intervention's implementation, focusing on the (1) process; (2) outcomes, including feasibility, fidelity, acceptability, usability, and perceived response burden; and (3) barriers and facilitators encountered by stakeholders.

Objective: Our objective was to assess trends in three sexually transmitted infections (STIs) - gonorrhoea, chlamydia and syphilis - in Spain, by age group and sex from 2016 to 2022.

Introduction: In the face of evolving public health challenges, including emerging diseases, pervasive health disparities, and escalating environmental threats, the integration of learning health system (LHS) principles emerges as a vital strategy for enhancing the adaptability and efficacy of public health initiatives. Traditional approaches within these systems often overlook the potential to deeply involve community-based organizations (CBO) that are led and staffed by the communities they serve as equal and essential partners in the public health discourse.

Methods: This commentary proposes a suite of nine community-led transformation (CLT) principles aimed at reimagining LHS frameworks to authentically incorporate CBOs at their core.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately impacted ethnic minority and other underserved communities, prompting the federal government to fund community-led health literacy initiatives. This evaluation shares challenges and lessons learned, and identifies best practices from community-based organizations (CBOs) partnering with academia and local government to support health literacy programming.

Methods: In 2023, 20 representatives from 12 CBOs in Southern California responded to an interviewer-administered survey, including open-ended questions about lessons learned.

Human gut microbiota analysis of cystic fibrosis infants using metaproteomics.

We report a metaproteomic analysis of the gut microbiota of eight infants with cystic fibrosis, during the first year of life. This is the first study in this disease that uses metaproteomics to analyze stool samples from patients at such a young age.

The effects of psilocybin on cognition and emotional processing in healthy adults and adults with depression: a systematic literature review.

Introduction: Psilocybin, a naturally occurring serotonergic agonist in some mushroom species, has shown promise as a novel, fast-acting pharmacotherapy seeking to overcome the limitations of conventional first-line antidepressants. Studying psilocybin effects on cognition and emotional processing may help to clarify the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic potential of psilocybin and may also support studies with people suffering from depression. Thus, this review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current literature regarding the effects of psilocybin on these two key areas in both healthy and depressed populations.

A far-ultraviolet-driven photoevaporation flow observed in a protoplanetary disk.

Most low-mass stars form in stellar clusters that also contain massive stars, which are sources of far-ultraviolet (FUV) radiation. Theoretical models predict that this FUV radiation produces photodissociation regions (PDRs) on the surfaces of protoplanetary disks around low-mass stars, which affects planet formation within the disks. We report James Webb Space Telescope and Atacama Large Millimeter Array observations of a FUV-irradiated protoplanetary disk in the Orion Nebula.

Adapting and Evaluating an AI-Based Chatbot Through Patient and Stakeholder Engagement to Provide Information for Different Health Conditions: Master Protocol for an Adaptive Platform Trial (the MARVIN Chatbots Study).

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI)-based chatbots could help address some of the challenges patients face in acquiring information essential to their self-health management, including unreliable sources and overburdened health care professionals. Research to ensure the proper design, implementation, and uptake of chatbots is imperative. Inclusive digital health research and responsible AI integration into health care require active and sustained patient and stakeholder engagement, yet corresponding activities and guidance are limited for this purpose.

Impact of social determinants of health on time to antiretroviral therapy initiation and HIV viral undetectability for migrants enrolled in a multidisciplinary HIV clinic with rapid, free, and onsite B/F/TAF: 'The ASAP study'.

Objective: Multidisciplinary care with free, rapid, and on-site bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (B/F/TAF) dispensation may improve health outcomes among migrants living with HIV. However, models for rapid B/F/TAF initiation are not well studied among migrants living with HIV, and an understanding of how social determinants of health (SDH) may affect HIV-related health outcomes for migrants enrolled in such care models is limited.

Methods: Within a 96-week pilot feasibility prospective cohort study at a multidisciplinary HIV clinic, participants received free B/F/TAF rapidly after care linkage.

Validation of the BLOC test: A computerized oral line bisection task in French healthy participants.

Line bisection is one of the most commonly used tasks to assess spatial neglect. More recently, line bisection has been recommended as a task to monitor for spatial neglect during awake brain tumor surgery, but the operative constraints hamper the normal test conditions. We developed and validated in 118 healthy participants the BLOC test, a computerized version of line bisection, suppressing the motor component, in both sitting and lying positions.
