Introduction: Circulating tumor-derived biomarkers can potentially impact cancer management throughout the continuum of care. This small exploratory study aimed to assess the relative levels of such biomarkers in the tumor-draining vascular beds in patients with solid tumors compared to levels in their peripheral veins.

Methods: Using an endovascular image-guided approach, we obtained blood samples from peripheral veins and other vascular compartments-including the most proximal venous drainage from solid tumors-from a set of nine oncology patients with various primary and metastatic malignancies.

Purpose: To evaluate the peri-procedural and intermediate-term clinical outcomes of thermal ablation of primary and metastatic lung cancer through analysis of a 5-year institutional experience.

Methods: In this retrospective, IRB-approved study, 55 consecutive lung ablation interventions (33 cryoablation and 22 microwave ablations) performed at an academic medical center from 2017 to 2022 were evaluated. Cryoablation was performed utilizing multiple 14-guage probes using a triple freeze/thaw protocol.

Vascular malformations of the head and neck represent a spectrum of complex vascular anomalies, requiring a multidisciplinary approach toward diagnosis and treatment. Several intralesional therapeutic agents have been devised and pioneered over the years, some of which are now primary and standard of care for the management of these lesions. In this article, the authors discuss the currently available intralesional therapeutic agents for the management of vascular malformations in the head and neck region.

Secondary cancers of the liver are more than twenty times more common than primary tumors and are incurable in most cases. While surgical resection and systemic chemotherapy are often the first-line therapy for metastatic liver disease, a majority of patients present with bilobar disease not amenable to curative local resection. Furthermore, by the time metastasis to the liver has developed, many tumors demonstrate a degree of resistance to systemic chemotherapy.

Post-operative hematoma is a common surgical complication, often treated conservatively. However, persistent, recurrent or symptomatic hematomas may require percutaneous or surgical drainage. The authors present two cases of persistent post-surgical hematomas which were successfully evacuated in a single-setting using a percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy system.

The role of radiology and the radiologist have evolved throughout the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Early on, chest computed tomography was used for screening and diagnosis of COVID-19; however, it is now indicated for high-risk patients, those with severe disease, or in areas where polymerase chain reaction testing is sparsely available. Chest radiography is now utilized mainly for monitoring disease progression in hospitalized patients showing signs of worsening clinical status.

To evaluate the effectiveness of a lecture series in increasing awareness and knowledge about common interventional radiology (IR) procedures amongst emergency medicine and internal medicine residents at a tertiary care academic medical center.A series of two 60-minute lectures was presented at both the Emergency and Internal Medicine weekly didactic conferences for the respective residency programs. The lectures covered the indications, contraindications, imaging, pre-procedure preparation, complications, and follow-up of common IR procedures, including both didactics as well as interactive question and answer segments.

The purpose of this study was to report national utilization trends and outcomes after percutaneous cholecystostomy, cholecystectomy, or no intervention among patients admitted to hospitals with acute cholecystitis. The Nationwide Inpatient Sample was queried from 2005 to 2014. Admissions were identified and stratified into treatment groups of percutaneous cholecystostomy, cholecystectomy, and no intervention on the basis of International Classification of Diseases, 9th revision, codes.

Background: Pediatric interventional radiology has grown as an advanced subspecialty with increased demand, number and complexity of cases, and number of pediatric institutions offering a pediatric interventional radiology service. Despite the overall increase in the number of pediatric interventionalists over the past two decades, there is a heterogeneity in their academic backgrounds and a lack of uniform training pathways.

Objective: To analyze the demographics, academic backgrounds and scholarly activities of pediatric interventionalists across the United States (U.

Objective: The Simon Nitinol filter is a bi-level filtration device designed for permanent implantation that is no longer commercially available, but may result in similar complications to current commercially available long term indwelling temporary or permanent filters. Complications related to indwelling inferior vena cava filters include inferior vena cava thrombosis, inferior vena cava penetration, filter migration, and filter fracture. There is a paucity of reports describing the technical aspects related to retrieval of Simon Nitinol filters.
