The US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) 2021 PFAS Strategic Roadmap describes national research plans to address the challenge of PFAS.
Objectives: Systematic Evidence Map (SEM) methods were used to survey and summarize available epidemiological and mammalian bioassay evidence that could inform human health hazard identification for a set of 345 PFAS that were identified by the US EPA's Center for Computational Toxicology and Exposure (CCTE) for toxicity and toxicokinetic assay testing and through interagency discussions on PFAS of interest.
Phosphate ester analogs in which the bridging oxygen is replaced with a methylene or fluoromethylene group are well known non-hydrolyzable mimics of use as inhibitors and substrate analogs for reactions involving phosphate esters. Properties of the replaced oxygen are often best mimicked by a mono-fluoromethylene group, but such groups are challenging to synthesize and can exist as two stereoisomers. The rigid, repetitive features of OCD and an assumed disability to inhibit recent mental representations are assumed to have led to a paradoxical advantage in that the Backward Inhibition (BI) effect was recently found to be lower in adolescents with OCD as compared to healthy controls. It was hypothesized that app-based mindfulness meditation training could reduce the disability to inhibit recent mental representations and thus increase the BI-effect by adapting cognitive flexibility and inhibition abilities according to healthy controls.
