Background And Purpose: The primary cause of range uncertainty in proton therapy is inaccuracy in estimating the stopping-power ratio from computed tomography. This study examined the impact on dose-volume metrics by reducing range uncertainty in robust optimisation for a diverse patient cohort and determined the level of range uncertainty that resulted in a relevant reduction in doses to organs-at-risk (OARs).
Materials And Methods: The effect of reducing range uncertainty on OAR doses was evaluated by robustly optimising six proton plans with varying range uncertainty levels (ranging from 3.
Vitamin D (vitD) deficiency (25-hydroxy-vitamin D < 50 nmol/L) is common in pregnancy and associated with an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. High-dose vitD supplementation is suggested to improve pregnancy health, but there is limited knowledge about the effects on placental vitD transport and metabolism and the vitD status of newborns. Comparing the current standard maternal supplementation, 10 µg/day to a 90 µg vitD supplement, we investigated placental gene expression, maternal vitD transport and neonatal vitD status.

Materials And Methods: A survey and a treatment planning comparison were initiated across nineteen European PBS-PT centres treating paediatric patients. The survey assessed all aspects of the treatment chain, including but not limited to delineations, dose constraints and treatment planning.
This work investigates the use of passive luminescence detectors to determine different types of averaged linear energy transfer (LET-) for the energies relevant to proton therapy. The experimental results are compared to reference values obtained from Monte Carlo simulations.Optically stimulated luminescence detectors (OSLDs), fluorescent nuclear track detectors (FNTDs), and two different groups of thermoluminescence detectors (TLDs) were irradiated at four different radiation qualities.

Methods: Twenty-four medical students were recruited and divided into two groups according to their degree of stereopsis: Group 1 (n = 12) included subjects with normal stereopsis (60 arcsec or lower) and Group 2 (n = 12) included subjects with reduced stereopsis (120 arcsec or higher). Stereopsis was tested using the TNO test (Lameris Ootech BV, Nieuwegein, the Netherlands).
Background: Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are recommended as first-line treatment of atrial fibrillation. Whether DOAC use is associated with lower risks of kidney complications compared with vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) remains unclear. We examined this association in a nationwide, population-based cohort study.

Identifying individuals in routine clinical care with new-onset CKD at high risk of rapid progression of the disease is imperative to guide allocation of prophylactic interventions, but community-based data are limited. We aimed to examine the risk of rapid progression, kidney failure, hospitalization and death among adults with incident CKD stage G3 and to clarify the association between predefined risk markers and rapid CKD progression.

Pre-treatment robust evaluation (PRE) takes uncertainties in isocenter shifts and distal beam edge in treatment plans into account. Using weekly control computed tomography scans (cCTs), the aim of this study was to evaluate the PRE strategy by comparing to an off-line during-treatment robust evaluation (DRE) while also assessing plan robustness with respect to protocol planning constraints.

Notably, vitamin D deficiency is common in pregnant populations, whom already have an increased thrombotic risk. However, pregnant women are commonly excluded from studies investigating the hemostatic system, and knowledge on the impact of vitamin D on hemostasis in pregnancy is therefore limited.

Understanding the socially and culturally specific challenges that family caregivers face and how they cope with them is crucial in developing targeted and effective interventions to support both caregivers and patients with T2D. This research examined family caregiving for people with T2D living in rural northern Vietnam.

The catalytic performance is determined by the abundance of N-doped sites and the type of metal coordination to N, but challenges remain to synthesize pristine carbon nitrides with a high concentration of the most active sites and prepare homogeneously doped materials that allow for in-depth characterization of the M-N-C sites and quantitative evaluation of their catalytic performance. Herein, we have synthesized and characterized a well-defined monolayer carbon nitride phase on a Au(111) surface that exposes an exceedingly high concentration of Co-N sites.

Methods: This nationwide registry-based study identified all Danish citizens dying from major non-cancer diseases or cancer in 2010-2016. Applying the cost-of-illness method, we included costs of somatic hospitals, including hospital-based specialist palliative care, primary care, prescription medicine and hospice expressed in 2022 euros.
This data article presents the details of the Live Road Assessment Custom Dataset (LiRA-CD), an open-source dataset for road condition modelling and research. The dataset captures GPS trajectories of a fleet of electric vehicles and their time-series data from 50 different sensors collected on 230 km of highway and urban roads in Copenhagen, Denmark. Additionally, road condition measurements were collected by standard survey vehicles, which serve as high-quality reference data.

The aim of the work described in this paper was, in preparation of this trial, to establish a strategy for conventionally fractionated proton therapy of prostate and elective pelvic lymph nodes that is feasible and robust. Proton treatments are image-guided based on gold fiducial markers and on-board imaging systems in line with current practice.

Vitamin D deficiency in pregnancy is associated with increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes especially complications related to placental dysfunction and insulin resistance. The objective of this study is to investigate if a higher dose of vitamin D supplementation in pregnancy reduces the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and prevents adverse pregnancy outcome with special emphasize on preeclampsia, foetal growth restriction and gestational diabetes.

Objective: To examine hospital-based specialist palliative care (SPC) utilisation among patients with gynaecological cancer, including temporal trends, predictors and associations with high-intensity end-of-life care.
Methods: We conducted a nationwide registry-based study for all patients dying from gynaecological cancer in Denmark during 2010-2016. We estimated the proportions of patients receiving SPC by year of death and used regression analyses to examine predictors of SPC utilisation.
The road transportation sector is a dominant and growing energy consumer. Although investigations to quantify the road infrastructure's impact on energy consumption have been carried out, there are currently no standard methods to measure or label the energy efficiency of road networks. Consequently, road agencies and operators are limited to restricted types of data when managing the road network.

Therefore, this study aimed to determine the prognostic value of serum amyloid A (SAA) and other clinicopathological and clinical variables in adult horses with acute colitis.
Methods: Clinical variables, SAA and other blood biomarkers, including plasma L-lactate (lactate), were assessed in 176 horses with acute colitis.
Purpose: We aimed to investigate if diabetic retinopathy (DR), glaucoma and/or ocular hypertension (OHT) are prospectively linked, as previous studies have proposed cross-sectional associations, but longitudinal data from larger cohorts are lacking.
Methods: We performed a bidirectional 5 years prospective, registry-based cohort study. We extracted data from national registers, including the Danish Registry of Diabetic Retinopathy, the Danish Civil Registration System, the Danish National Patient Register and the Danish National Prescription Registry.
Observational studies indicate a relationship between vitamin D deficiency and an increased risk of venous and arterial thrombotic events, but the underlying mechanisms behind this association are uncertain. This systematic review explores if there is an association between decreased vitamin D levels and a prothrombotic profile. The systematic literature search initially identified 3,214 studies (published until December 21, 2021) investigating the relationship between vitamin D and numerous hemostatic parameters.
