IL-6 signaling is involved in the pathogenesis of a number of serious diseases, including chronic inflammation and cancer. Targeting of IL-6 receptor (IL-6R) by small molecules is therefore an intensively studied strategy in cancer treatment. We describe the design, synthesis, and characteristics of two new bis-pentamethinium salts and (meta and para) bearing indole moieties.

Intracellular localization of prepared probes have been tested using four different cell lines (HF-P4, BLM, U-2 OS and A-2058). Prepared probes have intensive green and red fluorescence.

Fluorescent probes LysoSers 13-16 for lysosomal targeting have been tested. Co-localization with a commercial lysosome specific marker confirmed that the LysoSers labeled the lysosomal compartment with high selectivity.
