Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disorder mainly of children, whose pathogenesis is still unknown. Some studies have demonstrated that LCH lesions produce different cytokines abnormally that may be relevant to the pathogenesis of the disease. The purpose of this study was to investigate interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE(2)) levels in saliva from children with different clinical subtypes of LCH.
