Purpose: Radiographic parameters of mandibular trabecular bone structure between 67 subjects having hypodontia and those without were studied on digital panoramic radiographs.

Materials And Methods: Three regions of interest (ROI) were defined: the ascending ramus, apical of the mandibular molar and mesial of the first mandibular molar. The effects of the presence of hypodontia and the ROI on the mandibular trabecular bone structure were tested for statistical significance by means of multivariate analysis.

In fundamental osteoporosis research precise and accurate assessment of the mineral quantity in histological bone sections is of particular importance when studying the local effects of implants releasing bone modulating agents. A potentially useful technique to estimate the bone mineral density (BMD) is dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). A highly collimated (0.

The precision of measurements of minor mineral changes in alveolar bone mineral content (ABMC) and alveolar bone mineral density (ABMD) on implant surfaces was determined in small regions (0.03 +/- 0.005 cm2) using dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA).

This study investigated whether dental treatment plans and planning of general practitioners are different for addicted and identical non-addicted patients. Dental practitioners (n = 500) were sent a questionnaire with information on and questions about treatment for either an addicted or an identical non-addicted patient; response rate was 41 %. Loglinear analysis showed that after controlling for the influence of four demographic variables (sex, age number of patients and number of National Health Service insured patients), the treatment plans made for addicted patients were less elaborate than those for non-addicted.

The aim of this investigation was to study the effect of dentists' behavior on the (anxious) behavior of child patients. Twelve high-anxious and a matched group of 12 low-anxious children from 6 to 12 yr of age were selected and randomly assigned to one of six dentists: three with experience in treating fearful children and three without such experience. Each child was treated twice.
