Lead-based halide perovskites have gained significant prominence in recent years in optoelectronics and photovoltaics, owing to their exceptional optoelectronic properties. Nonetheless, the toxicity of lead (Pb) and the stability concern pose obstacles to their potential for future large-scale market development. Herein, stable lead-free CsBiI (CBI) films are presented with smooth and compact morphologies synthesized via chemical vapor deposition (CVD), demonstrating their application as an UV photodetector in a self-powered way.

Flexo-phototronics is a less-explored but promising technique to elevate the performance of optoelectronics. Therefore, this work addresses the potential of utilizing the flexo-phototronic effect to enhance the performance of a flexible and self-powered ultraviolet photodetector (UV PD) based on ZnAl:LDH (layered double hydroxides) nanosheets (Ns)/NiO heterostructure.

In the present study, the application of environmentally friendly zinc-aluminum layered double hydroxide (ZnAl-CO:LDH) is demonstrated for a high-performance, flexible UV PD. The vertically oriented ZnAl:LDH nanosheets (ZnAl:LDH Ns) are facilely synthesized by dipping the sputtered 10 wt % aluminum-doped zinc oxide thin films in deionized water at room temperature.

In this study, the fabricated single-structured device based on methylammonium lead iodide-polyvinylidene fluoride (MAPbI-PVDF) composite can harvest mechanical energy and simultaneously operate as a self-powered light and pressure sensor because of the combined photoelectric and piezoelectric/triboelectric properties of the MAPbI-PVDF composite. Light-dependent dielectric and piezoelectric properties of composite films are thoroughly investigated.

Organotin halide perovskites are developed as an appropriate substitute to replace highly toxic lead-based hybrid perovskites, which are a major concern for the environment as well as for human health. However, instability of the lead-free Sn-based perovskites under ambient conditions has hindered their wider utility in device applications. In this study, we report a predominantly stable lead-free methylammonium tin bromide (MASnBr) perovskite that has air stability over 120 days without passivation under ambient conditions.
