Article Synopsis
- The study aimed to investigate the hepatoprotective effects of the total alkaloid fraction from Hygrophila auriculata against liver toxicity induced by CCl4 in lab models.
- The methanolic extract of the leaves was tested on freshly isolated rat hepatocytes and HepG2 cells, showing protective effects even at low concentrations (80-40 µg/ml).
- In vivo tests with Wistar rats demonstrated that the total alkaloid fraction at 80 mg/kg had a hepatoprotective effect comparable to the standard treatment Silymarin at 250 mg/kg.
