A tale of two Purtscher's retinopathy.

Purpose: To characterize the outcome in two cases of unilateral traumatic Purtscher's retinopathy that developed after blunt head trauma.

Methods: Observational case series of two patients diagnosed at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences with Purtscher's retinopathy following blunt head trauma. All patients underwent a comprehensive ophthalmic examination, which included best corrected visual acuity, slit lamp biomicroscopy, dilated fundus exam, and retinal imaging fundus photography and high-definition Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (HD-SDOCT).

Choroidal detachment following the use of tamsulosin (Flomax).

Purpose: To report choroidal detachment following tamsulosin (Flomax, an alpha(1A)-adrenoceptor antagonist) treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Design: Case report.

Methods: Chart review, serial examination.

Technique for removal of a capsular tension ring from the vitreous.

Purpose: To report a new technique for safely and quickly removing a displaced capsular tension ring from the vitreous cavity.

Design: Two interventional case reports.

Participants: The authors retrospectively reviewed the charts of two patients with displaced capsular tension rings (CTRs).
