The concept of afferent therapy and prevention of morbidity is discussed in the context of integrative medicine in application to balneotherapeutics. It is maintained based on the results of neurophysiological investigations including exposure of the patients to natural and preformed physical factors that the concept in question provides a "neurophysiological clue" for the understanding of pathogenesis of many diseases and a rationale for the prescription of adequate therapeutic modalities to manage them.

Combined sanatorium treatment involving diadynamic and sinusoidal modulated currents was performed in 166 patients with clinical triad. ECG and omega brain potentials were recorded in 86 of them. Adaptive self regulation of the functions was found inhibited in 51.

A dynamic examination of 135 patients with transient disorders of cerebral circulation (TDCC) was conducted in conditions of a sanatorium-resort treatment in Kislovodsk in early stages following the last attack (from 2-3 months). The method of a phasic examination and treatment was accomplished according to the following principle: polyclinic -- hospital -- resort -- polyclinic. Apart from the clinical dynamic examinations such methods as EEG, REG studies of blood coagulation and basic metabolism, and if necessary angio- and dopplerosonography were used.
