Introduction: Involving mental healthcare patients in nursing handover practices seems a promising method for increasing patient participation, empowerment, and shared decision-making but is hardly found in practice.
Method: An explorative review on bedside handovers in mental health care was conducted. Searched databases included CINHAHL, Web of Science, PubMed, and Embase.
Intestinal goblet cells are secretory cells specialized in the production of mucins, and as such are challenged by the need for efficient protein folding. Goblet cells express Inositol-Requiring Enzyme-1β (IRE1β), a unique sensor in the unfolded protein response (UPR), which is part of an adaptive mechanism that regulates the demands of mucin production and secretion. However, how IRE1β activity is tuned to mucus folding load remains unknown.

Additional, non-canonical UPR functions have recently been unraveled in immune cells. We addressed the function of the inositol-requiring enzyme 1 (IRE1) signaling branch of the UPR in NK cells in homeostasis and microbial challenge.

Methods: In this study, we investigate the suitability of experience-based co-design as a method for designing bedside handover in mental health care.
Light and its spectral characteristics are crucial for plant growth and development. The far-red photon flux mediates many plant processes through the action of phytochrome and also accelerates the photosynthetic electron transfer rate. In this study, we assessed the effects of far-red addition on butterhead lettuce morphology, light use efficiency, optical properties, and phytochemical characteristics.

Understanding how this form of type 2 immunity is regulated could improve treatment of obesity. The STE20 kinase Thousand And One amino acid Kinase-3 (TAOK3) has been linked to obesity in mice and humans, but its precise function is unknown.

However, the role of IRE1/XBP1s in dendritic cells (DCs) in tumors, particularly in conventional type 1 DCs (cDC1s) which are cellular targets in immunotherapy, has not been fully elucidated. Here, we studied the role of IRE1/XBP1s in subcutaneous B16/B78 melanoma and MC38 tumors by generating loss-of-function models of IRE1 and/or XBP1s in DCs or in cDC1s.

Whereas the pathways driving immunogenic maturation in response to infectious insults are well-characterized, the signals that drive tolerogenic maturation during homeostasis are still poorly understood. We found that the engulfment of apoptotic cells triggered homeostatic maturation of type 1 conventional DCs (cDC1s) within the spleen.

Clinical information models (CIMs) can be used for content standardization. Data collection for national quality registries (NQRs) often requires manual data entry or batch processing.

Key to their success is the lipid-based nanoparticle (LNP), which enables efficient mRNA expression and endows the vaccine with adjuvant properties that drive potent antibody responses. Effective cancer vaccines require long-lived, qualitative CD8 T cell responses instead of antibody responses.

In addition, dark-grown seedlings respond to light by the formation of adventitious roots (AR) on the hypocotyl. How light signaling controls adventitious rooting is less well understood.

Objective: The primary purpose of this paper is to describe a cost-utility analysis of an eHealth intervention compared to regular follow-up in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) often leads to changes in right ventricular (RV) function and size over time. The prognostic implications of RV remodeling after STEMI, however, are unknown. RV remodeling in patients who underwent STEMI with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was defined by RV end-systolic area (RV ESA) change at 6 months after STEMI compared with baseline.

However, LV GLS does not take into account the afterload. Noninvasive LV myocardial work is a novel parameter of LV myocardial performance, which integrates measurements of myocardial deformation and noninvasive blood pressure (afterload).

Chronic heart disease patients are at risk for a complicated COVID‑19 course. The current study investigates all-cause mortality among cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) patients during the first peak of the pandemic and compares the data to the statistics for the corresponding period in the two previous years.

Purpose: Evaluation of the impact of catheter ablation for ventricular extrasystoles (VES) in structurally normal hearts on quality of life (QOL) and symptomatology.
Methods: Symptom analysis assessed with a disease-specific questionnaire, EHRA score for AF, and QOL analysis at baseline and 1 year after ablation.
Results: The study enrolled 39 patients between April 2016 and November 2019.
Background: Mobile health (mHealth) is an emerging field of scientific interest worldwide. Potential benefits include increased patient engagement, improved clinical outcomes, and reduced health care costs. However, mHealth is often studied in projects or trials, and structural implantation in clinical practice is less common.

A potential solution for both problems is the nursing handover involving consumers, in which the consumer is present at the time of handover. This practice invites consumers to be more involved in their care process and supports a recovery-oriented practice.

This study aimed to explore the relationship between RVMW and invasive indices of right heart catheterization (RHC) in a cohort of patients with heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (HFrEF), and to compare values of RVMW with those of a group of patients without cardiovascular disease.
Methods And Results: Non-invasive analysis of RVMW was performed in 22 HFrEF patients [median age 63 (59-67) years] who underwent echocardiography and invasive RHC within 48 h.
Importance: Smart technology via smartphone-compatible devices might improve blood pressure (BP) regulation in patients after myocardial infarction.
Objectives: To investigate whether smart technology in clinical practice can improve BP regulation and to evaluate the feasibility of such an intervention.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This study was an investigator-initiated, single-center, nonblinded, feasibility, randomized clinical trial conducted at the Department of Cardiology of the Leiden University Medical Center between May 2016 and December 2018.
Background: Polysomnography is the gold standard for detection of central sleep apnea in patients with stable heart failure. However, this procedure is costly, time consuming, and a burden to the patient and therefore unsuitable as a screening method. An electronic health (eHealth) app to measure overnight oximetry may be an acceptable screening alternative, as it can be automatically analyzed and is less burdensome to patients.
