Purpose: To test the efficacy of nanocarrier (NC) mediated mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy for liver regeneration following thermal ablation of porcine livers.
Materials And Methods: Liver radiofrequency ablation was performed in 18 swines divided into MSC, MSC + NC and control groups. The test groups received infusion of MSC or MSC + NC labeled with enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP) via hepatic artery.
Objective: This study focuses on dose-response investigation using a codon-optimized and de novo-synthesized E-Selectin/AAV2 (E-Sel/AAV2) vector in preparation for Investigational New Drug enabling of subsequent clinical studies.
Background: Gene therapy is a potential solution for patients suffering from chronic limb-threatening ischemia. Understanding the dose for effective gene delivery is crucial for future Investigational New Drug-enabling studies.
Fibroblasts are stromal cells ubiquitously distributed in the body of nearly every organ tissue. These cells were previously considered to be "passive cells", solely responsible for ensuring the turnover of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Current management of CVD includes risk factor modification and preventative strategies including dietary and lifestyle changes, smoking cessation, medical management of hypertension and cholesterol lipid levels, and even surgical revascularization procedures if needed. Although these strategies have shown therapeutic efficacy in reducing major adverse cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, symptoms of chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), and major limb amputation significant compliance by patients and caregivers is required and off-target effects from systemic medications can still result in organ dysfunction.

Our goal was to update the known information on the various sensilla in the antennae of , involved in the perception of odors, temperature, humidity, and movement. Based on their external shape, size, cuticle-thickness, and presence of pores, we identified six types of sensilla with 16 subtypes (one chaetica in the pedicel, four clavate, two trichoid, four basiconic, one styloconic, and one campaniform-like in the flagellum, and three additional ones in the two chambers of the sensory pit (pit-basiconic I and II, and pit-styloconic)), some of them described for the first time in .

Methods: We queried the Gore Global Registry for Endovascular Aortic Treatment for thoracic endovascular aortic repairs (TEVARs) performed between 2010 and 2016 and followed through 2022. Pathologies represented were descending TAA, complicated TBAD, and uncomplicated TBAD.
Objective: Here, we report a new method to increase the therapeutic potential of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) for ischemic wound healing. We tested biological effects of MSCs modified with E-selectin, a cell adhesion molecule capable of inducing postnatal neovascularization, on a translational murine model.
Background: Tissue loss significantly worsens the risk of extremity amputation for patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia.
The response to ischemia in peripheral artery disease (PAD) depends on compensatory neovascularization and coordination of tissue regeneration. Methods: Bulk RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) followed by paired bioinformatic analyses and validation assays were performed in 76 longitudinal vascular biopsies (veins and AVFs) from 38 patients with stage 5 chronic kidney disease or end-stage kidney disease undergoing surgeries for 2-stage AVF creation (19 matured, 19 failed).
Progressive peripheral arterial disease (PAD) can result in chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) characterized by clinical complications including rest pain, gangrene and tissue loss. These complications can propagate even more precipitously in the setting of common concomitant diseases in patients with CLTI such as diabetes mellitus (DM). CLTI ulcers are cutaneous, non-healing wounds that persist due to the reduced perfusion and dysfunctional neovascularization associated with severe PAD.

Climate change, particularly global warming, is disturbing biological processes in unexpected ways and forcing us to re-study/reanalyze the effects of varying temperatures, among them extreme ones, on insect functional traits such as lifespan and fecundity/fertility. Here we experimentally tested, under both laboratory and field conditions, the effects of an extreme range of temperatures (5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, and 45 °C, and the naturally varying conditions experienced in the field), on survivorship/lifespan, fecundity, and fertility of four pestiferous fruit fly species exhibiting contrasting life histories and belonging to two phylogenetic groups within the genus : , and . Given their capacity for self-renewal, multilineage differentiation, and immunomodulatory potential, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) represent a promising modality of clinical therapy for both regenerative medicine and immune diseases. In this study, we review the key approaches and popular methods utilized to boost potency and modify functions of MSCs for clinical purposes as well as their associated limitations. Several major domains of cell modification strategies are currently employed by investigators to overcome these deficits and augment the therapeutic potential of MSCs.
