Objective: To describe a basic training program in microsurgery and to analyze the learning curve through the process, including improvement in operating times and functional outcome.
Materials And Methods: Our learning program included basic, transitional, and experimental models. The experimental model included tail vein cannulation, intestinal resection and anastomosis, dissection, division and anastomosis of the cava and aorta.
We describe the unusual case of a female patient with a history of two mature teratomas non-correlated in terms of location and occurrence. A 12-year-old girl presented at our consultation as a result of a growing tumor in the hypogastric region, with no further clinical signs. She had undergone surgery neonatally due to a mature cystic sacrococcygeal teratoma, which was fully removed.

Our aim is to describe the effectiveness of silver nitrate for matrixcauterization after partial onychectomy.
Methods: A prospective observational study was performed on patients with ingrown toenailsstage 2-3 who underwent partial onychectomy with silver nitrate chemical matricectomy during 2018-2019 in our institution.
Introduction: The addition of ultrasound-guided percutaneous cryoanalgesia (PCr) for pain management after pectus excavatum (PE) surgery offers a new and advantageous approach. Our aim is to describe our experience with PCr applied on the same day, 24 hours, and 48 hours prior to PE surgery.
Material And Methods: Prospective pilot study in patients undergoing ultrasound-guided PCr (2019-2022) was divided into three groups: PCr on the same day of surgery (PCrSD), PCr 24 hours before (PCr24), and PCr 48 hours before (PCr48).

Musculoskeletal remodeling after Nuss procedure for pectus excavatum (PE) could cause RML. We evaluated the incidence of RML after Nuss procedure in children.

Introduction: Perineal groove is an infrequent midline malformation. It is a humid, mucosal, non-keratinized groove located at the perineal midline, extending from the vulvar fourchette to the anterior anal border. It is rare and usually asymptomatic, and it heals spontaneously in most cases.

Clinical Case: 4-day-old newborn with multiple hepatocutaneous hemangiomas and a purplish vascular lesion in the third finger of the right hand. In the third week of life, the lesion became ulcerated and caused uncontrollable bleeding.
Residual postoperative pneumoperitoneum (RPP) can be confused with postoperative complications. Our aim was to study RPP characteristics in pediatric patients. Prospective study in children with noncomplicated appendicitis, from July to December 2019, divided into open appendectomy (OA) or laparoscopic appendectomy (LA).

Since 2019, ultrasound-guided percutaneous cryoanalgesia (PCr) has been applied at our institution, either on the same day as the Nuss procedure or 48 hours before surgery. We carried out a preliminary retrospective review of patients with PE in whom PCr prior to surgery was performed at our institution between 2019 and 2021.

To reduce the harmful effects of presurgical anxiety, parental presence during induction of anesthesia (PPIA) is one of the more notable interventions used in medical centers. However, data on this measure are difficult to evaluate and often face resistance from healthcare staff.

The objective of this study was to analyze emergency activity at a referral pediatric surgery unit in its territory and determine whether surgical pathologies had decreased or not.
Methods: A retrospective study of pediatric patients presenting at the emergency department and referred to the pediatric surgery unit from March 14, 2020 to April 20, 2020 was carried out.
Introduction: Acute appendicitis (AA) is the most common abdominal surgical emergency. No specific studies have been found that evaluate the impact of the coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2) pandemic on AA and its surgical management. An analysis was made on the influence of this new pathology on the clinical course of AA.

There are few articles in the literature analyzing the relationship between early pre-surgical antibiotic treatment initiation and complication occurrence in AA. Our objective is to analyze such influence and the effects of late treatment initiation.

However, there are few studies that evaluate their effects in pediatric patients. We aim to analyze their influence on the postoperative course of acute appendicitis in children.

The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an inflammatory marker that has been related to the development of peritonitis; however, its diagnostic role in predicting PIAA has not been evaluated. This is the first study that analyzes the usefulness of NLR as a predictor of PIAA in children operated for AA.

One defining feature of the Anthropocene epoch is the erosion of biogeographical barriers by human-mediated dispersal of species into new regions, where they can naturalize and cause ecological, economic and social damage. So far, no comprehensive analysis of the global accumulation and exchange of alien plant species between continents has been performed, primarily because of a lack of data.
