Purpose: Electrocardiography (ECG) and respiratory-gated preclinical cardiac CEST-MRI acquisitions are difficult because of variable saturation recovery with T, RF interference in the ECG signal, and offset-to-offset variation in Z-magnetization and cardiac phase introduced by changes in cardiac frequency and trigger delays.

Methods: The proposed method consists of segmented saturation modules with radial FLASH readouts and golden angle progression. The segmented saturation blocks drive the system to steady-state, and because center k-space is sampled repeatedly, steady-state saturation dominates contrast during gridding and reconstruction.

BCL-2 protein overexpression, common in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL), including the Philadelphia (Ph)-like subtype, mediates leukemic cell survival. We treated 24 patients with 14 days of BCL-2 inhibitor, venetoclax, 400 mg daily (dose level 1) during induction and consolidation cycles combined with the CALGB 10403 regimen in newly diagnosed adults with Ph-negative B-ALL. Median age was 31 (range: 18-53) years, 92% were Hispanic, and 12 (50%) patients had Ph-like ALL.

Immune synapse (IS) formation determines T cell antitumor activity. Here, we present a protocol for characterizing the IS formation between chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells and tumor cells by measuring the IS size and calcium flux by live-cell imaging. We describe steps for CAR T cell manufacturing, sample preparation, image acquisition, and data analysis.

Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) are communities physically and socioeconomically separated from mainstream society (non-GIDA) and lack comprehensive nutrition and health assessments. This study aimed to assess the nutritional and health status and determine the factors associated with chronic energy deficiency (CED) and overweight/obesity among adults, 20-59 years old, residing in GIDA and non-GIDA. Data of the 20,381 adults collected in the Expanded National Nutrition Survey were analyzed.

Introduction: Among women at risk for alcohol-exposed pregnancies (AEP), smoking tobacco may be associated with increased severity of alcohol use, and risk for tobacco-exposed and other substance-exposed pregnancies (TEPs/SEPs). Our secondary data analysis of the 'CHOICES Plus' intervention trial explored AEP and SEP risk by smoking status.

Methods: Eligible women (N=261) were recruited from 12 primary care clinics in a public healthcare system, not pregnant, aged 18-44 years, drinking >3 drinks/day or >7 drinks/week, sexually active, and not using effective contraception.

Background: Relapse remains a challenge after transplantation in pediatric patients with hematological malignancies. Myeloablative regimens used for disease control are associated with acute and long-term adverse effects. We used a CD45RA-depleted haploidentical graft for adoptive transfer of memory T cells combined with NK-cell addback and hypothesized that maximizing the graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect might allow for reduction in intensity of conditioning regimen.

Recurrent and/or refractory (R/R) pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains a recalcitrant disease with poor outcomes. Cell therapy with genetically modified immune effector cells holds the promise to improve outcomes for R/R AML since it relies on cytotoxic mechanisms that are distinct from chemotherapeutic agents. While T cells expressing chimeric antigen receptors (CAR T cells) showed significant anti-AML activity in preclinical models, early phase clinical studies have demonstrated limited activity, irrespective of the targeted AML antigen.

Increasing evidence suggests that music training correlates with better performance in tasks measuring executive function components including inhibitory control, working memory and selective attention. The Stroop and Simon tasks measure responses to congruent and incongruent information reflecting cognitive conflict resolution. However, there are more reports of a music-training advantage in the Simon than the Stroop task.

Purpose: Gene therapy using adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector-mediated gene delivery has undergone substantial growth in recent years with promising results in both preclinical and clinical studies, as well as emerging regulatory approval. However, the inability to quantify the efficacy of gene therapy from cellular delivery of gene-editing technology to specific functional outcomes is an obstacle for efficient development of gene therapy treatments. Building on prior works that used the CEST reporter gene lysine rich protein, we hypothesized that AAV viral capsids may generate endogenous CEST contrast from an abundance of surface lysine residues.

In this research, we developed a biochar-based fertilizer using biogas slurry and biochar derived from lignocellulosic agro-residues. Biogas slurry was obtained through the anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (fresh vegetable biomass and/or prepared food), while biochars were derived from residues from quinoa, maize, rice, and sugarcane. The biochar-based fertilizers were prepared using an impregnation process, where the biogas slurry was mixed with each of the raw biochars.
