The impact of an enteral formula with food-derived ingredients on dietetic practice at a specialist children's hospital in the UK: Retrospective study.

Background: Blended tube feeds are reported to be better tolerated in some children compared to standard commercial enteral formulas, allowing children to normalise feeding by having similar foods as the rest of the family. However, a blended tube feed is contraindicated in patients who are immunocompromised or require post-pyloric feeding as a result of a food safety risk. Other contraindications for blended diet include children who require continuous pump feeding via gastrostomy or nasogastric feeding tube (< 12 Fr) and fluid restrictions.

Identification of Genes and Characterization of Resistance Mechanisms to Colistin in Isolates from Colombian Hospitals.

We report the presence of the gene among 880 clinical isolates collected in 13 hospitals from 12 Colombian cities between 2016 and 2019. Seven (0.8%) isolates were colistin resistant (MIC ≥ 4 µg/mL).

Background: , also known as canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV-2), is the main pathogen in hemorrhagic gastroenteritis in dogs, with a high mortality rate. Three subtypes (a, b, c) have been described based on VP2 residue 426, where 2a, 2b, and 2c have asparagine, aspartic acid, and glutamic acid, respectively.

Characterization of immunophilins in the silkmoth Bombyx mori.

The FK506-binding proteins (FKBPs) perform an extensive variety of functions in numerous organisms from archaea to humans. The FKBPs are distinguished by their peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) activity and ability to bind the immunosuppressive drugs FK506 and rapamycin. Here, we report the isolation and characterization of FKBP45, a novel member of the FKBP family obtained from U1 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) binding assays using Bombyx mori nuclear extracts.

Design and validation of a synthetic VH repertoire with tailored diversity for protein recognition.

Previous studies have indicated differences in the specificity-determining residues (SDRs) of antibodies that recognize haptens, peptides, or proteins. Here, we designed a V(H) repertoire based on the human scaffold 3-23/J(H)4 and diversification of high and medium-usage SDRs of anti-protein and anti-peptide antibodies. The repertoire was synthesized by overlapping polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and combined with the V(L) chain of the anti-hen egg-white lysozyme (HEL) antibody D1.

Partial inhibition of the in vitro infection of adult mouse dorsal root ganglion neurons by rabies virus using nicotinic antagonists.

The infection of target cells by rabies virus is effected through membrane receptors. Several authors have suggested that nicotinic receptors could be used by this virus, but no direct experimental evidence is available. In this study mouse dorsal root ganglia cells were treated with various nicotinic antagonists (dihydro-beta-eritroidine, mecamilamine, d-tubocurarin, hexametonium, alpha-bungarotoxin and erabutoxin).

Characterization of the colorectal antigen IOR-C2.

A colorectal antigen (IOR-C2) was characterized by a monoclonal antibody produced against the colon cancer cell line SW1116. By immunohistochemical staining the antigen was abundant and strongly expressed in epithelium of normal colon whereas colorectal carcinomas showed a more variable and heterogenous reactivity to the antibody (IOR-C2). Radioimmunoprecipitates of SW1116 cell homogenates showed a 160-200 kD band in SDS gels.
