Background: Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition with a greater prevalence and disease burden in patients who identify as African American and those with a family history of HS, suggesting a strong genetic component to its pathogenesis.
Objective: To evaluate the relationship between plasma inflammatory protein expression, HS disease severity, and genetic ancestry in a diverse cohort of patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa.
Methods: We performed a case-control study of patients with HS compared to age-, sex-, and ethnicity-matched healthy controls.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to evaluate mir-31-5p as a prognostic biomarker of keloid disease (KD) recurrence using a retrospective, treatment naïve, surgical cohort of head and neck KD cases from Henry Ford Health.
Methods: Using a tissue microarray, mir-31-5p expression was measured with miRNAscope, and mir-31-5p cell positivity was determined with QuPath. Logistic regression was used to test the association between mir-31-5p positive cells and KD recurrence at 1 year.
Background: Most epidemiological studies of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) have described homogeneous patient populations.
Objective: To characterize demographics, modifiable health behaviors, and comorbidities of HS patients within a diverse cohort.
Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study of 13,130 HS patients within a health care system was conducted.
Human DNA ligase 1 (LIG1) performs the final step in DNA repair and recombination pathways by sealing DNA breaks, and it functions as the main replicative ligase. Hypomorphic LIG1 variants R771W and R641L cause immune deficiencies in LIG1 Syndrome patients. In vitro these LIG1 variants have decreased catalytic efficiency and increased abortive ligation and it is not known if either biochemical defect is sufficient on its own to cause immune deficiency.

Treatment with intramedullary nails has risen in popularity with good results, however complications can occur. We report on a 62-year-old female with a body mass index of 63 kg/m who presents with cephalomedullary nail lag screw migration following an open reduction and internal fixation of an intertrochanteric fracture, which was subsequently converted to a hip hemiarthroplasty after hardware failure of her cephalomedullary nail.

So far, existing driving mechanisms all accelerate solitons and antisolitons in opposite directions. Here we introduce a local driving mechanism for solitons that accelerates both solitons and antisolitons in the same direction instead: non-reciprocal driving.

Here, we report two cases of recurrent pemetrexed-induced lower extremity erythema and edema, one in a 60-year-old male and the other in a 47-year-old male, who were both treated for recurrent cellulitis on multiple occasions before finally being diagnosed with pemetrexed-induced pseudocellulitis (PIP), a rarely reported adverse effect. This is an important diagnostic pitfall for clinicians to be aware of, as early recognition may minimize patient morbidity and prevent unnecessary hospitalization and antibiotic use for presumed cellulitis.

Introduction: As maternal age during pregnancy is rising all over the world, there is a growing need for prognostic factors that determine maternal and perinatal outcomes in older women.
Material And Methods: This study is a retrospective cohort study of women aged 40 years or older at the time of delivery in four Santeon hospitals across the Netherlands between January 2016 and December 2019. Outcomes were compared between women of 40-44 years (advanced maternal age) and 45 years and older (very advanced maternal age).
Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is increasing in frequency with graft-versus-host disease affecting many recipients. When the skin is involved, biopsy is routinely performed but often does not aid in definitive diagnosis. Here, we examine a cohort of 32 patients for potential biomarkers that can aid in the diagnosis of graft-versus-host disease.

However, data regarding the performance of this GEP assay in routine clinical practice are lacking. The purpose of this study was to better assess the real-world performance of GEP in a large academic practice.

Termites live in colonies, and their members belong to different castes that each have their specific role within the termite society. In well-established colonies of higher termites, the only food the founding female, the queen, receives is saliva from workers; such queens can live for many years and produce up to 10,000 eggs per day. In higher termites, worker saliva must thus constitute a complete diet and therein resembles royal jelly produced by the hypopharyngeal glands of honeybee workers that serves as food for their queens; indeed, it might as well be called termite royal jelly.

The pea aphid, is a paradigmatic photoperiodic species with an annual life cycle tightly coupled to the seasonal changes in day length. Nevertheless, PDF could not be identified in so far In the present study, we identified a PDF-coding gene that has undergone significant changes in the otherwise highly conserved insect C-terminal amino acid sequence.
